From further investigation I think that both Black Hearts are the same location, but I can't confirm this as the Black Heart website tells me to check Facebook for event details and they aren't listed there unless I'm expected to scroll through eleventy-billion status updates to find this listing. Meanwhile the Workin' Man Noise Unit website has a JPG of a flyer and no address. Most annoying, although I suppose it heads off any accusations of the band selling out.
In more positive news, I've discovered that the OBE gig is actually an album launch party. Imma buy a CD and get it signed by the band like a teenage girl!*
That's my pal Matt, who also does Sly and the Family Drone. He used to do a zine too, not sure if he still does.
Here's the cover for the Workin' Man Noise Unit tape I'm releasing tomorrow, it'll be on me site for order early next week, along with their debut 7" (which I'm also releasing)...
Noise rock makes the Grauniad. Is it possible that mainstream music might become 1. interesting and 2. relevant again after however many years its been of bland conformity?
Alright dudes. Thought I'd share some of the noisier stuff I've been listening to of late. So, I adore Nero's Day at Disneyland, and Lauren Bousfield's self titled aural wreckage is even better. The deliciously creepy carnival glitch core of Nero's is blindingly evident but there's so much more going on here.
Brendan Nixon's brand of alt / post rock has been getting a lot of quality lughole time as well, specifically his last Sensory Deprivation and latest Analgesin albums. The finale of SNSRY DPRVTN is a belter. Dude's a good 'un.
When I wanna go a lil easier on my oft confused brain, the spiky, distorted delights of Deerhoof and White Lung never fail.
