I like what I’m hearing. Not sure I love it though, yet. She doesn’t reach the lofty heights of the pantheon you listed, for me anyway. The songs are great, and her stories are strong (Hometown Hero is fucking devastating) … but I think I need a dose of sass from my country girls. I need a knowing wink and a sense of humour. Emily is playing it straight - which is fine - but I’m yearning for a break in the seriousness.
I’ll try her earlier albums later!
