Mega hype for the new Ian Noe album now. Both tracks released so far absolutely do it for me. First album came out of nowhere, can't even remember how I stumbled across it. Please be good.
Haven't been in this thread before as I've never realy been into country music but I'm starting to dip my toe in here and there since I've started playing the guitar.
Anyway I recentley discovered Tony Joe White and I'm loving his style, it's not realy country I guess but you guys in here have probabley heard of him. His mix of country, blues, rock and funk all come through and if I had to say one guitarist I'd like to sound like it would be him.
Ray Wylie Hubbard's new album has just dropped and there's a track with Hayes Carll AND James McMurtry on it. Glorious morning. I don't even care that I wasn't that taken with it.
Off to see Larkin Poe tonight. Postponed from the start of Covid until now. They’re at least twice as famous as the last time we saw them. Much bigger venue, and it’s sold out. Gonna be interesting to see what they’re like with a bigger crowd.
Quite a change from a venue holding 400-ish last time to a sold-out 1,300 cap. Big tunes, big sound, bags of charisma.
Played a couple of songs from their next album too - full on southern rock blasts. First one was Blood Harmony, which will be the title track when it comes out. Didn’t catch a name for the second. My photo’s from the encore - a stripped down howl of John the Revelator.
