Had a refresher as a bit of a mini morning project and I'm not as into it as I thought I was. I do think he'd be good live though.
This is a live version of the track that popped up initially. Strong like from me:
He does a few of these roaring-the-feels-with-a-clenched-fist numbers. He was on the Sons of Anarchy soundtrack (and in the show, possibly) and his albums sound a bit like SoA, Peaky Blinders and True Blood all got up on stage for an encore at once. I don't quite buy the grit, but he sells it with gusto so I reckon a gig would be fun. From the live clips I've seen this morning, inc. the one you linked, his drummer seems to be earning his supper.
The new Larkin Poe album’s another Deep South pop banger. They’ve gone full ’70s rawk for this one. If it wasn’t for the slide guitar and Rebecca’s drawl, it wouldn’t really feel like country any more at all. There’s one song that sounds for all the world like Suzi Quatro.
Just gave that Billy Joe covers album a listen (was shocked it see it in a local music store! Couldn't go past it) - yeah it's made a great first impression! No weak songs but I think Amanda Shires stood out the most. Looking forward to giving it a few more spins soon.
When you got movies like Tom Cruise in them, you can't lose
