Certainly feels like it anyway. It's finally escaped the 9th circle of development hell and is now due out on May 25th? I'm really liking the overall aesthetic - that Kung Fu Panda vibe really is doing it for me. A massive open world where you get to create your character from splicing together the DNA strands of six different tribes, making for, allegedly, unique character builds with every spin of the creation tool. Build a beefcake with super strength though and you'll miss out on intelligence base skills like psychic powers. Intriguingly, sculpt a character with big arms and the game will recognise that you want a super strong mutant. Create something sleek and slinky and the game will assign dexterity as your major attribute - nice.
I am not one for boss fights, but both the mini bosses and end of level 'World Eaters' look marvellous. Big fluffy titans with names like JUMBO PUFF. I mean, who wouldn't want to fight a boss called JUMBO PUFF?
But it's not just your own character that gets bolted together, Frankenstein like, from various bits and pieces. Your weapons too are cobbled together from various parts, allowing you to customise them to create a unique arsenal. They are promising a lot of depth to this crafting system. Combine this with vehicle travel across a lush post-apocalyptic landscape utilising airships, clockwork severed hands (!), Mechs and squid-like submersibles and we could be getting something very special here.
There are concerns on horizon however. It's been in development for a long long time, suffering many major delays, and it's only a 20 strong person team behind this so whether they have the manpower to squash all the bugs before release is anyone's guess. And it's ok creating a 'massive open world', but can then populate it with enough interesting denizens with compelling AI to make it feel properly alive?
This game ain't riding no hype train. (there's not even a PS5/Xbox Series version!) For this game to succeed, it'll have to be a sleeper hit, slowly morphing to become something popular through word of mouth and half whispered recommendations, finally transforming into something monumental, hitherto unseen. Bit like the titular biomutant then.

As a fellow swede I will have to say, in my defence, that I have no idea of where this resurgence of the Swedish 80's D&D-like Mutant and its role playing animal kingdom has come from.
Why would anyone want it? I just don't know. But here you go, have another one.
Yeah, I love the look of it and the idea behind it but there’s a few bits in the two trailers up there that got me a little concerned. I’ll need reviews before jumping in.
Nice OP Blocks - been waiting for this for a while and I, honestly, have concerns. Part of me fears this could be a bit of a stinker.
But it’s a cool idea and it looks pretty, and there’s deffo enough there to maintain my interest, so I’ll be in at some point I expect. Feel bad being concerned, tbh, as there could also be sth super cool under the hood. It also looked good when I had the chance to see it last year in Shanghai.
May 25th though? That’s a hell of a time to be launching. Emphasis on hell.
Not doing a awfully good job of dispelling lingering doubts is it? They really need somebody else to do their trailers for them. But please be good etc.

Yeah I didnt really click that it was doing a Star Wars until the very end card.
Probably doesn't help that I cant remember the Force Awakens trailer because that movie came out 6 years ago.
This definitely looks like my kinda smashy bashy fun. Can’t support it out of the gate because busy saving the galaxy with Mass Effect, but (as long as it doesn’t get a critical mauling) will get around to it in the late summer.
