Great stage, Movistar should have won it though, and probably taken more time out of froome. Didn't do any work until the flat before the final ascent.
20 second penalty apparently. Fair play to Froome. He's riden like a champ. I'm just disappointed that Schleck came into the Tour with no form and Voeckler has been all over the shop. Wiggins is sitting somewhere mumbling to himself. Remember him?
Riblon was fantastic today. Delighted to see the French finally take a stage. Hoping the attacks come thick and fast on Froome now, but I really think he has this in the bag. Bertie is done and Evans wasn't even at the races today. Quintana is definitely one to watch. I wonder if he would have put more time into Froome's lead today if Froome hadn't taken on more glucose within 5k? Would the energy gel have an immediate impact? Probably not, but I'm just putting it out there.
What an absolutely wonderful day's cycling. Shame for Cav but Kittel has his number, Sagan, Quintana, Froome all total class. And a nice touch from Sky too, coming across the line as a team.
I even enjoyed the presentations and the light show.
Best organised TDF in years and years. Now to convince the wife we need to take a trip to Yorkshire.
and it's amazing, but it seems to have been put together by muppets. Firstly I've had to tighten the rear brake calliper because it was sticking. Now there appears to be friction between the chain and the "front dérailleur" in the higher gears. What do I have to adjust to stop this from happening? The gear system btw is this http://www.shimano.com/publish/content/global_cycle/en/us/index/products/road/sora.html
But wow the difference between this and my old Specialized Crosstrail is immense. The lack of front suspension is taking some getting used to but it's so faaaaaaast.
The Giro was so awesome today. Terrible weather, stupidly hard mountains, bitter complaints from the riders about being forced to race, misinformation from the organisers about neutralising a descent and one brilliant performance from a tiny columbian.
They are ! Just wish I had more time to do it - especially Mountain Biking .
Went Mountain Biking in wales last month for 3 days and it was amazing , it didn't rain all weekend which is rare . The whole weekend cost less than £100 , that included 5 of us renting a cottage , loads of food and beer and the fuel to get there .
Not that many people post in this thread , if you're interested or do mountain biking I'd recommend Afan in South Wales.

Since I moved jobs I haven't been out on the bike once. It's a real pisser. I'm hoping to get a few hours in this weekend, all being well.
It'll bloody kill me! I've lost all my fitness.
I've never done any proper mountain biking but it looks class. I might see about renting a cottage with the family and going out alone while they play board games or something. I like that idea.
I love Cycling but prefer Mtn Biking. But with the wife having our second at the end of next month chance will be very limited for a few months.
The uphills are ok ( depending on fitness ) but the downhills give you a right buzz - steeper and rockier the better. Even though we do mainly cross country we all wear body armour ( knee and shin pads and also elbow pads )

So Wiggins isn't doing le tour because he's not team leader - what a selfish Wanker !
But didn't Froome work his ass off for Wiggins and I personally think would've won it if it wasn't for team orders , but Wiggins won't do it for him. Mind you the team will probably be better without him.

I'm not sure about that, from his public comments he seemed happy to ride in support of Chris Froome. He must know there's no way he's going to beat Contador or Nibali let alone Froome.
I'm cycling to Amsterdam and back with a few friends later on in the summer. Nothing too major, maybe 150 miles each way, but spread over a fair few days.
Problem is my bike is a single speed on a racing frame. Thinking about putting some gears on it but there is no bits to attach a rack so would need to go the seatpost route.
Weighing up whether to just get a new bike, but wanting to keep things cheap.
B and Bing. We're going via Rotterdam and Utrecht for a night each, then have a proper apartment in Amsterdam for the weekend.
Think new bike might be the smart option. My work does the cycle scheme so was thinking about picking up an entry level road bike and then can pay for it monthly. Not sure how much I'll actually use it though, plus I'm not overly keen on the look of more modern bikes.
Thought about just grabbing some sort of cheapish used touring bike on gumtree and selling it again afterwards but not seen anything quite right yet.
Cycle scheme is good, though not as good as it used to be. It almost always makes more sense than a used bike though.
Internet can be cheaper but I'd recommend a proper shop, you can get fitted properly, you can try bikes out and they'll probably do you a first service for nowt.
