I was making a joke about specifying it was a pro, as if you wanted to make sure we didn't think you could only afford a normal Mac.
I've been reading a lot of Amazon reviews lately, on my Tab4 from my bahamas beach front property, where people shoehorn their exotic holiday locations and big-up their skills and possessions.
Ah - right. Honestly no idea - just what work had lying around and I was told I could make some of use of it. Is the Pro significant re RAM or anything?
The charger went on it - the cable seemed to have developed a break in it - but the local Apple Store who knows our business well replaced it for free.
I just watched Streets of Fire and enjoyed it despite a degree of 80's cheese. I rather liked the sporadically disjointed editing (although the tear transitions did become annoying after a while), which helped to give it a satisfying sense of momentum, and despite the afformentioned cheese it did still possess a satisfying style... also it was fun to see Willem Dafoe looking so young. 7/10
Just watched this. Liked a few things about it, most of all the music, and the whole cheesy 50s/80s hardboiled style of it. Mostly just found it underwhelming and forgettable. The lead was crap, the script was weak and it never felt like there was any real tension. Can imagine I would have liked it when I was young.
4 sledgehammer duels out of 10.
to a bit of good old fashioned punching of women (because they can't play up when they're not conscious).
Did find that pretty funny. Didn't even attempt to persuade her, and has a special protagonist way of punching women that knocks them out but doesn't leave a bruise.
yeah, I thought that has particularly special to. Punching her in the jaw with enough force to render her unconscious but without breaking her jaw or leaving any mark at all, very special. I agree that the lead was incredibly weak to.
I've found my copy of Survive Style 5+ on dvd. I own a ridiculous amount of unwatched films, which I never thought I'd regret, but I can't file them properly in the games room /middle class problems.
After that what's next? Has anyone seen Solaris? At this juncture I wouldn't impose the glacial Tarkovsky version - instead I'd propose the Soderbergh / Clooney version which is far better than anyone could have imagined and also comes in at a slender 95mins. Clooney is really rather good and Natascha McElhone is stunning looking in it.
I've also propped Downfall and Kind Hearts & Coronets. Haven't watched either in a while so would be up for one of those.
Oh.Meant to say - MosFilm has published a load of films on youtube - the 1972 version of Solaris among them. You may find it interesting to watch that and compare the two..
I'd be up for watching the original, never seen it. Maybe we could sink our teeth into a 'one or both' Solaris week, with opinions on the remake? It's been discussed on here before, so there are fans of both versions. Clooney version was very good, which isn't what I'd been led to believe ('in real life').
If anyone wanna takes this over I'd be fine with it. I'm still happy to upload the films as/when I can but got tings going on at the moment so someone prepared to set up a schedule, update OP and so on would be welcome. I can happily still do it but it'll be scattershot.
Start new thread, copy OP etc if ya wish to. I'm shite at this stuff.
yeah DS, chill, its going ok. I'm going to catch up with the two films this week. (said that two weeks ago) but they're d/l now.
He could've just said they came from another planet but seems keen to convince people with his bullshit pseudoscience that he knows stuff. I wouldn't trust him with my lunch. - SG
Watched the clooney Solaris a while back, didn't leave an impression. Couldn't even bring my self to watch the original. Watched the first half hour then the rest in x4 speed. Didn't seem like I was missing anything.
If foreign films are particularly slow, I have been known to watch them at 1.5x speed on the PS3 to shave the length slightly, yet still get my money's worth and be able to have an opinion. Did wonders for Carancho, which revealed itself to be a bit of a plodder early on. Glad I stuck with it but it's not a patch on The Secret in Their Eyes.
