I need a few sessions in solo to drag myself up again. Teaming up is just a recipe for disaster atm as the games are just completely out of whack with the rank difference. I'll be back!
Na I've abandoned Soldier, I'm a Zarya main now. Its much easier to influence a game with a well timed Graviton than it is trying to get picks with Solider, especially in the current tank meta.
It's a lovely well balanced classic Blizzard extrapolation of blending established themes. They took the leftovers from at least 7 years of a Warcraft competitive MMO development and spun it into a blend of the extremely successful/lucrative MOBA massive money generator thing and a FPS team based hero shooter.
If you're playing in a decent team of players who know the specifics of their characters and the rock/paper/scissor of their character against the opposition it often means you are more likely to win.
Your own innate skill is often slightly less important than the quality and overall team userbility of the skills of the players around you. If you don't talk that well to the players on your team you're far less likely to be successful.
If you can reliably play with some good players you'll do well.
If you can't reliably play with good determined players then you are at the whims of the matchmaking and will likely be less successful. Probably.
Enjoy. It is very nicely balanced and designed.
There are blind loot boxes of lovely cosmetic outfits on top of the £60 (console) outlay that seem to actively encourage you to throw more money at the drip feed behemoth of Blizzard. It's almost as if they have years of data on impulse purchase nonsense to play off. The outfits do often look lovely though so that's fine and it is genuinely a good game so hey ho. No one ever forces you to buy loot boxes. Apart from fairly hideous mobile psychological engagement tests.
Repeat.
No one ever expects you to buy a loot box.
Ever.
Until they release a really fancy seasonal skin and you feel that you're really in debt to them for all the free gaming time you've had on Blizzard cash so you should really should chuck some cash back.
On the plus side they really do make a genuinely 2016 GOTY reviewed fine game behind all the hideous monetising and a bajjilion people are into the competitive chase for some more cosmetic golden weapon thingies.
I enjoyed playing against the AI lol. It's a beautiful game, wonderfully presented and polished to a sheen.
I enjoyed my evening with it, but there's no way I can put serious time into it on PS4. The pad was giving me cramps within half an hour of playing. Horrid thing.
I just don't have the time for yet another online shooter in my life.
I'm still struggling with the pad after buying Overwatch and a PS4 at the game's launch. Went back to Halo Reach for a bit of campaign the other day and holy shit I could actually aim, and in comfort as well!!!
If you do jump back in for a session, @stonechalice, I'm on most nights and will happily give you the full guided tour. I've got a lower level secondary account as well that should hopefully let me avoid the relentless barrage of master ranked try-hards we've been matched with over the last few nights.
Took a hammering in comp last night. One win out of six (duo-queued all, mid to high plat group rank), and all of them were genuinely terrible games. Outside of our two there was zero teamwork, constant trickling in, character swapping after every death, and our teams were massively out ranked and out levelled for the last two. Brutal, completely one sided, and no fun. Worst games of Overwatch I've ever had. Back in gold as well.
Really tough comp games these last few days. More losses than wins and a continuing slide into the depths I struggles out from after placement. Oh well.
Played some with Bobadoo and Musechick earlier, and after a promising start we got dragged into a lil losing streak. Genuinely clueless behaviour from some of our randoms was a serious problem. No team work and awful character choices abounded. We got over it though, broke the streak with a hard fought draw and finished on a couple of solid wins. Ended up almost exactly where I started the day. S'all good.
