Per the Graun, the government were hardly open about the bung details, saying Nissan had no special treatment etc. They obviously can't afford this for every company so it's blatantly dishonest to make it like Nissan we're saying the things they were saying without "encouragement", even though there were obviously strong suspicions

(I'm unclear if the £60m was known and just the extra £21m on top)
  • So Theresa May will visit Brussels on Thursday to tell them that she doesn't have anything new to ask them for, can't guarantee anything they will give them will be accepted, but could they please move their red lines for us and undermine the fundamental nature of the European Union to accommodate us.

After a short silence, she will be told no, and come back to the UK. More time will be wasted doing nothing before we then vote on the same deal she already suffered a record defeat on.
  • At least she’s currently doing fuck all quietly instead of doing fuck all in a really self-important media-hungry way.

Desperately looking for a silver lining, here. It’s not working.
  • Trade in and out of UK will carry on 'relatively normally' in event of no-deal Brexit, says Grayling.

Given the source, you can take it as fact that everything will grind to a halt.

Looking more like no-deal by the day imo. Still think that Liv and Yoss are right, probably, but it's not getting any better.

  • Uuurgh, the odds are now 2-1.

  • Im keeping faith in the numbers.
There just aren't enough to go for no deal when it comes down to the final hour.

All the comfy career centralists aren't going to throw away their seats for it.
The soft brexiteers will lump for it, as will remainers because it is a shit deal but literally anything is better than no deal.

May's deal will fail again next week because there is still time on the clock. When that time has run down passing May's deal takes it into extra time where there is still time to soften the deal, it will literally have to be different to end the backstop.
No deal is final whistle, all over, cunts win.

    As for Backstop solutions.

Tech, lol see my post the other day.
Hard border, EU wont allow it.
Soft border, most likely with closer alignment and more a Corbyn deal than May's.
Irish sea border. DUP wont allow it so there will have to be a General Election.
  • I'm starting to suspect most Tories want a no deal but are too scared to admit it. In many ways it's a very conservative thing to want -self-governance, a relaxation of rules, more individual responsibility.

I wish the odds would stop fucking coming down. It's giving me panic attacks.

  • Well that's the UK officially given up on now.
Wind Waker is a bad game
  • 6-4 now for a no deal according to my odds checker. Spiffing.

    Is that different to 3-2?
  • Reports are May is going to offer protected worker rights to Labour.

Corbyn has penned his letter of demands which is basically their 6 demands from before but with single market dropped.

If all true those odds should be slashed as we are starting to get some movement going on.
  • Got to ask whose settings these odds as well.
How many gambling companies would like the zero regulations that come with no deal?
How many are owned or linked to cunts like Murdoch?
Absolutely nothing happened today to move us closer to no deal other than 24 hours passing.
  • They're determined by bets being made. No deal is apparently now the most popular non-sporting bet.

No, it's an average I quoted and it's done to be easier to compare the different bookies at a glance.

  • So presumably one was offering something like 7-4 but the average was 3-2.

  • This is why decimals make much more sense.

in other words- if it were up to the Tories, we'd all lose these rights

Looking into it, it appears the reasons for the odds drop is that JC is still insisting on the customs union and May has already told/promised everyone behind closed doors she's not going to concede on that.

It really would but old people.

  • For those wondering why so many of the 'elite' support nationalist movements like Brexit.
It's not like they adhere to shared nationalist (racist?) values, nothing of the sort. The elite see nations as potential assets and nations are more malleable when small and isolated.

    https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2019/feb/07/why-the-wealthy-back-trump-and-brexit

It's basically the reason why Mercer, Bannon, Russian oligarchs et al support Farage in his cause. And why career politicians are so enticed by the lure of Brexit.

  • Yeah, that piece nails it. Common sense, and a state of affairs we all accept as ‘normal’, but it’s good to see it written about eloquently.
For ultra-nationalists, this project means “taking back control” of their governments from foreigners. For the ultra-rich, it means eliminating the controls that international organizations and alliances have imposed on them individually and as a class …
The novelist GK Chesterton had their number over a century ago, when he wrote: “The poor man really has a stake in the country. The rich man hasn’t; he can go away to New Guinea on his yacht. The poor have sometimes objected to being governed badly; the rich have always objected to being governed at all. Aristocrats were always anarchists.”

Even if it's in legislation, legislation can be changed.
Don't wank. Zinc in your sperms
  • Aye, there's going to be a lot of bullshit getting thrown about as it gets towards the final countdown. I predict panic, confusion, mistrust and general fuckwittedness.

  • Any Labour MP that votes for Brexit because of promises made by this Tory government should be deselected.
