There's certain things we can't avoid. For example, the movie is a 12A means no one is getting ripped from limb to limb, that's not a spoiler.
We already have trailers for subsequent marvel movies, that doesn't make it a spoiler. Getting hung up on run times feels like making a mountain out of a mole hill

If it's that good, the time will melt away and you won't need to check your watch anyway! ;)

Stop banging on about it then.

But I can't see institutional information ( sorry to invoke my old job as a media teacher) such as the studio name, the run time, the certificate, the director or screenwriter, all of which could give a cue as to the plot, but don't get picked up on, as a spoiler.

If you'd known it was directed by Taika Waititi, which would have changed the entire TONE of the movie, would that then be a spoiler?

It was not me who raised it, and given my past job - and indeed my specialism at university - I felt I needed to comment on it. I'd also argue two quick points is not banging on but whatever does you.
  • I need to arrange child care most of the time so I actively need the runtime. I don’t expect people to follow spoiler etiquette on it. It’s just preferable not to know.

Loads of info can lead you to guess or work out stuff. Eg if the last film had been called part 1 as originally planned, the ending would have had way less impact

That's all well and good, but it's still information I'd rather not know.

Interrupted on my morning drive to another office by my daughter texting ‘AVENGERS TICKETS ARE ON SALE’. Got tickets for late Friday showing on opening weekend. She’s had a few movies spoiled by classmates, can’t blame her wanting to see it as soon as.

Her conversion to full geekdom is complete.

    Spoiler:
    Things can only get better.
  • Do you need to see the first avengers to follow this one?
"Sometimes it's better to light a flamethrower than curse the darkness." ― Terry Pratchett
  • For Endgame?

You could probably not watch the first Avengers and just go with the most recent movies before infinity war and then infinity war. Infinity War doesn't spend any time setting anything up in terms of who is who so I imagine this will be the same.

The IMAX website for Melbourne crashed hard on ticket release so I only managed to get a ticket for the Thursday but at 120pm so it's not too much a wait. Will definitely be a social media blackout from Wednesday till then.

People were pretty good with not spoiling IW so I'm hoping this will be the same.

  • Spoiler:
  • Decided to check if the local cinema had any seats left for their biggest screen on opening night.

Two seats in a prime location. Snapped them up.

Screw the kids, me and the wife are going first!
  • Huh. I just checked my wee local cinema and there were only two seats taken for the whole of the evening screening on the 25th. Might as well book myself in then, eh?
  • Not a superhero, but playing in the ballpark:

  • Yeah, just saw that. Could it be the first decent DC film of modern times?

I dunno. The trailer makes it look interesting, but if it deteriorates into Batman vs Joker fisticuffs later on it’ll undoubtedly fall flat.
  • Odeon website was down last night. Checked this morning and best seats for the weekend were gone. :(

So I booked some crappy Cineworld seats.

Yeah, it looks like a good movie, it is the fact it is The Joker, DC etc that is putting me off.

I don't really want a Joker origin story but I would watch that.

Wow. That fucking trailer is incredible. I'd love to see this as the first film to break the box office / Oscar divide. I adore Phoenix, so maybe am a bit coloured but that looks like it could possibly be a character study that could illuminate a wee gold man.
  • Looks promising. I wonder if Captain String will have a cameo?

  • I like Phoenix too. I like Todd Phillips (aka Mr Hangover 1,2,3) less. But we shall see!

I was all like shittt because I was planning to go on holiday in Edinburgh the week Endgame came out but hadn't booked anything and so missed the initial rush but I've booked it now and just managed to get a good seat in the late afternoon IMAX screening and cos it's Cineworld I was able to use a voucher and get it for cheaps which I can't do here as the IMAX is Vue so yayyyy.

  • I'm happy my IMAX is a proper IMAX instead of just the "slightly bigger" thing they do at a lot of the cinema chains. Might still be the biggest screen in the world.
It's all very overwhelming in the best way when it fills the whole thing like it will with Endgame.

THANKS FOR PISSING ON MY CHIPS SHABBY. I have a proper IMAX at home - need to watch it ASAP to avoid spoilers but always having the option of a second viewing when I get back.
