They’re really strong, the Jet has some of the best base movement in the game, and movement is generally the most powerful tool in your arsenal. I think the rocket starts off by doing 2 damage base as well? Great stuff.
I will say that over 30 odd hours back in March I lost more games from poor movement than anything else. Damage is fairly inconsequential in the grand scheme of things.
If you can get Camilla they are incredible. Similar to putting Abe in the ramming mech in the science team.
When I can't attack with a unit because I'll destroy the building behind me I think the unit is lacking. I get that I could in theory attack two enemies if I get in the middle of them, but the chances of that happening, and them being positioned so I don't push one or both of them into a building means that in practice more often than not the firing two ways thing is a liability.
Then you've got the totally defensive unit which freezes enemies and itself. I get that you're supposed to position this unit in the line of and attack, so you freeze an enemy and tanking the attack means you can have a turn next round, but the chances of this particular set of circumstances occuring are minimal.
So that's the ice guys in the bin.
The fire guys are a little better, but you're still swapping direct and immediate damage for the teleporter, and again it's more situational and indirect. I fully upgraded this chap to try and make use of him, and gave him the jump jet thing too, still struggled to make use of him.
The starter guys are more useful in more situations for me.
The Ice and Fire teams are really for high level play, like the guy i know that had every achievement, and a hard mode win with each team in the first few weeks of release. Every other team is better than the starting team I think, their movement options just aren’t that good compared.
I spent quite the while hoping that Nintendo would do an advance wars for switch, even just a compilation of the old titles would have made me happy. But this actual fills the gap. Mastering the different squads is great fun and the speed of the game makes it so replayable.
Game of the year for me but does this count? I've heard it was released on pc last year.
I had zero time for Advance Wars. Turn-based strategy holds no appeal, puzzle games which constantly shift based on your actions in the previous round are another thing altogether.
It’s stll legit for me to claim HLD as GOTY surely? This will be a close second. Haven’t play enough HK to have an opinion. But thinking Dead Cells maybe next purchase.
There's that wonderful feeling of d'oh when you realise you made an error and there is no rewind left.
I like how you can abandon a timeline right up to the last second, so if you do lose all your power and the end game scene begins, you can still exit your pilot.
Have to wait until my bday at end of the month to play this and hollow knight on the switch. Sister kind enough to buy me Nintendo store credit vouchers which will pay for both.
Lapse of concentration really pisses me off. I formulate a plan, check what else can be done, then go back to original good plan and forget one of the moves and execute quickly. Wish the reset extended to after final move in the turn and when Vek take their turn when you see true ramifications of your actions.
