    nope

Me neither. I consider myself to be one of the good men so I've nowt to be ashamed about. The bar has been lowered of late but that was nothing to do with me.

Maybe the question should be 'Are you ashamed to be from the UK and of a certain generation?'.

    Maybe so......

the celeb thing is bespoiling childhood memories. I always thought Saville was a bit of a tosser but I never had him down as a predatory pedophile.

It's a Knockout has been sullied too, Winner Takes All on a Friday night with Tarbie was good stuff - and Rolf Harris? OK - charges to be made and all that but for fucks sake.

When was the best football/tennis/rugby played?
When were the best films made?
When was porn best / most innocent / least depraved?

If your answer is "when I was a teenager" then you're like pretty much every adult that constantly harks back to when things were better, that just so happened to coincide with their youth.

I wonder about the wisdom of Google flushing its links. As right as it is to hamper access, a meaningful number of paedos have pinged the radar through their card payments.

It's only a worthwhile trap if those caught are monitored closely, but would pornless paedos frequent more parks? Which is the greater accelerator?

Leaving porn there would be complicit in its further creation, but latent paedophilia actualising in this manner is a better way to catch it.

I think tagging for life remains foremost in the options for justified response. Via subcutaneous chips, if requested.

(The serious money on the table for hackers kept in mind.)
  • Interesting to read that Guardian article.  I know it's not nearly as scientific, but that sex ed programme on Channel 4 interviewed a bunch of kids who universally, without exception, had a totally warped idea of what sex is meant to be like, based on watching lots of porn on the web.  They might have managed to find the only kids affected by it, of course...

Controversial ideas incoming.  I'd like to know about research into the effects of masturbating on increasing or decreasing the urge to commit the act portrayed in the pornography consumed while masturbating.  In other words, if a man is a paedophile, or has rape fantasies, is masturbating while viewing such material likely to satisfy his urges, or more likely to provoke him to take it further.  I realise everyone would be different, but the general trends.  The reason being, and this is where the controversial idea comes along, in this day of photoshop and photorealistic graphics, would it not be an idea to legally make available pornography which is artificially generated but portrays what the viewer wants.  Would allowing paedophiles to view pornographic material of fictitious, apparently underage children prevent real children from being photographed and abused, and how would society feel about it?
  • Not that this means everything but I seem to recall teen pregnancy stats being on a downslope for a while. Could just mean sex terror though.

The argument against created images is apparently that they can be used to aid abuse of actual children by showing them the pictures to convince them it's normal. I'm not quite sure if that's correct or bollocks though, as it covers cartoons too.

Quite.....but then when the people you liked back then are subsequently revealed as some sort of sick lunatic it is quite distressing.

  • Think i mentioned it before, but they have a bit of a different attitude to paedophiles (please no pedantry) here. There's all sorts of adverts on the telly and clinics where people get help. Perhaps even 'cured'. It raises all sorts of ethical questions, and you could [rightly or wrongly] draw comparisons with those outdated ideas about curing homosexuality. It's a tough subject. I have no idea how these people think. Is it possible to be a paedophile and feel no compulsion to act forcibly upon it? Or is the exploitation aspect part of the appeal?

I remember hearing that when they opened up a clinic in Berlin over 1,000 people came forward for treatment. 200 had to be turned away as it was stretched beyond capacity.
  • Moral relativist as I often am, it's probably still socially useful to have a couple of 'objective' Evils floating around and diddling youngsters seems worth ruling against. Abuse of power etc.
  • Ashamed to be a man? Never, being able to intelligently have sexual relations with somone without exploiting them is your choice, and down to your wisdom, if you get it wrong then ufortunately you have to pay the price, as do the folk you used

  • Some people suffer from severe mental illness which makes them unable to control such behaviours as paedophilic abuse for example.

    A minority surely.
  • Some goofballs practice religions which encourage paedophilia. Is that a mental illness?

  • I'm not arguing whether or not it is a minority but when one is discussing paedophilia one must also remember that the abusers have often been victims of terrible abuse themselves which, whilst it obviously can't excuse their crimes, is an important factor when considering how best to treat them.
Almost any religion is, to some extent, a mental illness as far as I'm concerned; any that condones or encourages paedophilia all the more so.
  • Is it not the case that if you are baptised into Christianity and renounce your god, that by the Christian bible's principles you are actually a Luciferian/Satanist?

  • The latter.

    How's this sexist?

"A car full of people drove past. Screamed the word "c&nt" so loudly everyone in the office could hear."

Idiot thing to do but hardly sexist. I've had worse shouted at me

"Tv show on Viva called the Guy Code - apparently competitiveness separates men from women, because obviously women can't have any ambition..."

Ambition and competitiveness are two different words with two different meanings.
