I mean he is half Border Terrier half Manchester Terrier. No wonder he looked so good in a parka.
Read up on Manc Terriers and it all fits. Made me feel much better about how I am raising him, the difficulties I have had with him all fit the breed.
Need to get him on some agility training and flyball soon. He will boss flyball.
Can I be so vulgar as to ask what that cost? I'd love to know exactly what Candy is. Lots of Staffie, but I've lost count of the suggestions people have made for what else is in there.
Her colouring is identical to a Jack Russell my grandparents had, but that wouldn't explain her long legs. I've heard everything from Great Dane to Beagle. I'd be surprised if the non-Staffie parent wasn't the offspring of cross-breeds itself.
I knew Clay was at least half Border because I met his mum and it was definitely the mum in the way she protected her pups.
People said Jack Russel as the Dad but it didn't explain his long legs. Got to admit I hadn't heard of a Manchester Terrier before. As it is I ended up with a dog that looks and acts half way between a border and a min pin, which were the two breeds I wanted.
I could see a bit of Manc Terrier in Candy TBH, it is those legs. Not many other terriers have them and it is unusual to breed between categories of dog.
Met an 11 week old parson russell terrier in the park last night, who was ADORABLE.
Sort of like a jack russell but with longer legs. All white, with a couple of black patches. The wee boy was TINY. Considering him and Cooper are the same age, Cooper looked massive in comparison. Must have been at least four times the weight.
Fatigue is finally starting to set in. Puppies take up a lot of your time.
I get to bed around midnight each night, after taking Cooper out for a late-night pee outdoors. Up again at 4am to let him out of his crate for another pee (he’s too young yet to last a full night without needing the toilet). Then up for the morning at seven o’clock and out for a walk to the park.
No respite for a lie-in at the weekend, so I’m getting by on about six and a half hours of sleep every night. It’s taken a month, but that’s now catching up on me. I’m exhausted. I know my body will adjust and everything will be fine, but I’m not there yet. This next couple of weeks I’m gonna feel the tiredness pretty badly.
Can’t wait to be out the other side of this part …
On the plus side, wee Cooper is totally worth it. He’s already becoming a pretty amazing dog. 12 weeks old today!
We’ve enrolled in the Dogs Trust Dog School for some puppy training classes. Went to the induction last night – just a short talk for the owners, no puppies going along until class one next week.
I’m presenting this photo of the homework sheet without comment, as ample demonstration of why Cooper needs this …
It does look like you've interrupted something important.
Roasting here yesterday, so Balkello Woods at the foot of Craigowl. There's a good walk to the top, but I doubt if we rose more than 5 feet from the car park. Stuck to the trees and the burn at the bottom.
