I don't remember that. I remember my wife thought it was sad that a game should have a female character racing around in their underwear. She's not a metal gear fan.
I gave Automata a spin last night. Great opening section
Ending B done. This game just keeps on giving. This may, may just topple BOTW of my 2017 top spot.
I started off playing this in small chunks here & there, which tbh didnt really add to my learning of the games mechanics or my own fun. Throw in the fact it lacks polish here & there & I was not sure I would see it through to ending A. Last couple of sessions have been meaty as I parked Splatoon to have a real good stab at clocking it. So glad I did, game is a fucking gem of a title.
Made a fuck up on the last boss on ending B by not retrieving my body/chips on the previous wipe, but apart from that, ready to crack on with ending C over the weekend & hopefully get some more pieces for a story I'm really enjoying.
It comes down to the side missions, and it's hard to say whether they're worth it or not.
On one hand, each one adds some really interesting detail to the themes in the game, but on the other they involve a lot of running about and are mostly a bit dull.
Fast travel helps? I do find some of them interesting. Couldn’t find any of the deserters though. Went to the area marked red and nowt. Possibly spent too long looking for them.
Fast travel helps to a point, but then there's loading times and you often still have to run about quite a bit once you warp to the right area.
The deserters were tricky to find. I stumbled upon them by accident in the end. Some missions are only available in certain parts of the game as well, so you can miss them (but don't worry about it).
My advice if you’re trying to complete it is to ignore the side missions. I spent way too long on fetch quests and by the end realised I had way more fun without them. Know I’m in the minority but would have preferred not having the distraction, without quests it still took me a while, think 19 hours might just be the first ending...?
Not sure I did the last stage of that battle properly. I just kept healing using items and brute forced it. How were you supposed to dodge those billets?!
I’m gonna blitz through campaign missions, not too interested in the gameplay at this stage, although hacking adds a bit more to it. It’s the story and characters and setting that is intriguing. Found some archive stuff, pamphlets and stuff. It’s great in adding to scene-setting etc.
Best PS4 game. Easy, yes. ? Maybe. Haven’t played Persona 5 yet.
Best storytelling. Yep. Easy.
Best studio (Platinum). I’d go with Nintendo. Cos I’m Nintard.
