But Russia are by far the best at it. They have almost complete control over their domestic media, while they operate state controlled media outlets in a number of foreign countries. All the while having a network of social media amplifiers that parrot pro-kremlin lines and amplify articles from Russian state controlled outlets.hunk wrote:There are dumb conspiracy theories (like the one workid posted) and then there's stuff like the Mueller investigation that makes one go hmmm....
Like it or not, misinformation, cyber warfare and fake news campaigns iare a reality and the Russians are not the only ones doing it. It's a standard information warfare tool by now and as one can observe it:s effects are....fucked up to say the least.

Would it really matter whose fault it was?
The Soviet Union wasn't beaten - it imploded and was nowhere near the threat that Western leaders would have had us believe. Yes - the threat of nuclear conflict was in the air but the West was the great threat.
Our so-called leaders always want there to be a bad guy for us to be afraid of. Since the collapse of the Soviet Union, there have been a few stand-ins such as Hussein, Bin Laden, Taliban, ISIS etc - but those warm up acts have left the stage.

As far as I can tell that appears to be the problem, people talking shit about Israel from the left getting called antisemetic by pro Israel people and Zionists who can't separate criticism of state behaviour from the right to a homeland for some fucking reason and then anyone on the right/centre/left who doesn't like labour or JC using it as a shitty political tool.
Shit sandwiches all round.
P.s. let me declare my bias by saying fuck the treatment of Palestinians by Israel. Please note that criticism of Israeli state behaviour does not therefore equal tacit approval of Palestinian state behaviour. Fuck all this, I hate the West, we fucked everything up so badly for erryone.
