You left "nundam" on the table. Tragic.
  • @equinox_code I painted the Warpsmith you got me for Secret Santa, it took ages, I never want to see cables on a model ever again, but it was a lot of fun! Thanks for the awesome gift, hopefully this guy and the Master of Executions will be able to smash some face real good in the future when the world starts going back to normal!

Just saw the first picture and thought 'That's not too bad, cables wise' then I saw the back..... yeah that's a fuckload of cables n stuff.

    Looks awesome though Rouj
  • That’s a great model. I shall name him Vince. Vince Cable.
  • Thanks everyone! Except Cinty for ruining the model forever.
"Let me tell you, when yung Rouj had his Senna and Mansell Scalextric, Frank was the goddamn Professor X of F1."
  • Looks nice. I presume it's finecast, so it would have been even more of an absolute ball ache to paint?
  • Yeah it is, the biggest problems I had were having to straighten the axe and then some of the details on the cables is miscast in a couple of places where bunches of cables meet on his back. The tentacles are super flimsy and feel like if they get one good knock they're going to snap.

It was okay to paint, primer went on fine but then I was using plasticote matte black rather than GW spray and that stuff really sticks onto surfaces well, takes twice as long to dry as GW primer.

There was a metric ton of flashing and injection gates that has to be snipped away as well.

The one good thing about this model though is that even though he predates the range refresh chaos marines got a couple of years ago, his smaller size compared to the new models isn't very noticeable because of the bulk of all the cables and the big tentacles waving all over the place.

Well excuse me for showing an interest in your hobby.
  • It's too late, I have already melted him down in a jar of acetone!

First ever painted minis, in the time it took me to paint these, I've managed to scatter another 25 death things over my desk that need to be painted next...
  • WOOOOO! SPOOPY GHOSTS!

    looking good Nina!

  • I might buy the new AoS box and it's entirely Tempy's fault. Well, 96%. Rouj can take 2%. The other 2% is just me.
  • It's a good looking box but damn it's gonna be pricey and sell out incredibly fast.
  • I don't even like the Kruel Gang that much, tbh.

    Where are the better Dwarves.

I've been getting the Mortal Realms mag here in Aus, it shits me a bit that the stuff we're getting is gonna be outdated before we're done (not even halfway through yet)

Still good value models mind, just annoying.
  • They're not outdated, new models don't overwrite old ones. Sequitors and Evocators are gonna still be good.
  • Nice work rouj, man look at those cables!

Also Nina there is no way you can convince me that was your first time painting miniatures. They look ridiculously good…
  • Started painting again. You guys and gals are so inspiring. x

Can't pick a faction I like above all others in AoS. Love the lore of Fyreslayers but the model range is pretty bad, imo. Not very dynamic and with no variety.
  • @Roujin, where did you get the flowers and jazz for your bases? I'm going to go for a similar look on a Project. x

@Tempy Is there any difference in the Underworld games? Or are they just new sets of the same game? Might get one but don't know if there is any reason to pick one another other than models included?

Hnngh. The answer is... yes. If you want to play it competetively. Shadespire and its warbands are season one. Then it's Nightvault, Beastgrave, Direchasm. Each one comes with... 6 warbands outside the additional two. They work as good standalone games, but it's designed sort of like Netrunner in that each warband adds new cards to the mix, with most of them being warband specific and some of them being generic.

This season has been a mess - one warband week for the last three weeks has meant no one has had time to catch up on releases. If you're just playing for fun, any of the sets are fine, but the more recent you go the more the additional warband cards will play together etc.
  • Looking for a board game recommendation. A friend is getting married and we want to chip in and get him a boardgame. He loves eldritch horror and has all the expansions, his favourite computer game is stellaris and he likes 40k lore and books but doesn't play the game. The only caveat is his 18 month old son which means he doesn't get much opportunity to get to play long form games anymore.

I was thinking possibly black stone fortress or gloomhaven, mainly because they're games I want and we have similar interests. Any suggestions much appreciated.
  • BSF is good, but has long setup and game times. Can be a fun Event Game to play over a few months given it has narrative.

Get Gloomhaven Jaws of the Lion if you want to try Gloomhaven. Its still ALOT of content, way cheaper and as good as the massive Gloomhaven. Just not as daunting a commitment.

I'm playing through Gloomhaven with one friend and I think we'll be done just when we hit retirement. Playing through JOTL with another friend and should be done by 2022.
  • Thanks for that. I'm a bit scared by the gloomhaven commitment and jaws of the lion looks great but isn't quite as much of a big statement gift that I was wanting. What's expensive and great and not a ridiculous time sink?

Yeah I wouldn't recommend either Gloomhaven or Blackstone Fortress if he doesn't get to play long form games.

We finished our base Gloomhaven campaign last year after nearly 4 years of (mostly) monthly games.

Other than Eldritch, what other board games does he like, is he more an Ameritrash or Euro player, for example?
  • Does he like escape rooms or puzzle type games?

There are some pretty enjoyable escape room board games that can be done in around an hour each time? Me and the wife will often sit down and complete an Unlock scenario if we don’t have time for a epic gaming session.

I got Star Wars Unlock for my birthday so that’s an absolute treat!
Gamertag: aaroncupboard (like the room where you keep towels)
  • Apologies if this has already been posted:

These are new terms for me. We tend to play Catan, pandemic, binding of Isaac (card game) and we've enjoyed 22b baker Street.

I'm beginning to think rather then getting a really big ticket item we could put the money towards a stack of games.

How about recommendations for top 4 games, maybe a strategy game, a two player game, a quick puzzle game and an adventure game.

I think peas recommendation will make the cut.
