Colour me intrigued, that looks great.

I have the pdf if interested. Just PM me.

Honestly, it's an absolutely brilliant rule set. Emphasis is on skills and making each model unique, and the combat/ activations are super simple. Keeps the game flowing at a rapid pace but still has enough meat to make it enthralling.
  • It sounds fun but of course I am legally not allowed to play it.

  • First game of Wonderlands War. It took me an absolute age to set up as I was being very careful and it had some changes due to being a two player game. First round of the three was very cagey with neither of us really knowing what was going on but as the game progressed it all made sense.

It has got a lot of different components and rules and things happening but what you actually do on your turn is incredibly simple. The bag drawing mechanic is also a great feature, adding tension and fear during many later battles.

It’s simply a brilliant game and I loved playing it. The art style and production is outstanding. I won due to my wife’s final bag draw working in my favour, showcasing excellent balancing.

  • Bought Blitzkrieg! on the weekend. Can't wait to try.

Also discovered I'd missed/forgotten rules in Everdell that were making it a slog. Completely missed/forgot the building = free critter thing. lols.
I'm still great and you still love it.

I would, but I don't have anyone here to play with.

Absolutely vile, in the best way
  • Picked up some absolute tat that Ara wanted. Spot it and another one called what's my meme? Or something.

    Pretty darn meh, but ok.

Got Sherlock Holmes consulting detective as a bonus birthday present for the missus (honest govner).

    Looking forward to it.

Consulting Detective is excellent. I’ve enjoyed every case we have done. Simple in design but can be a great challenge.

  • Nice, I was tempted to grab Detective, but double the price and probably better with 4, so figured the simple 2 player co op option was safer bet for now.

  • Managed to play Demeter, a card and write type of game that was interesting on how quickly it ramped up in terms of decision making. I enjoyed it.

Also played Unmatched, the medusa and alice in wonderland version which is ok I guess. Asymmetrical powers and minimum board. It's not as good as Wildlands and even the Funkpop game. Will play it again I'm sure, but won't be rushing it back.

Bought Anachrony and played with 2 friends tonight. Wow. It blew us all away. We were all excitedly discussing the game afterwards so much that we said fuck it and set up and played again.

Second game was totally different. The combination of different powes, order of building coming out, end game conditions etc really shook things up. It's right up my alley. Worker placement and engine building. Real head scratcher.

Might be my favourite game now tbh, I'd have played a third game if we could.
  • Niiiice. That looks freakin cool. Also looks pretty crunchy, as they say. I assume that BGG 4.0 complexity rating isn't lying?

The teach was an absolute nightmare. Took 30 mins to explain. Both my mates faces were a picture, eyes glazing over. There's a hell of a lot going on. The iconography is absolutely top notch though. I don't think I'll ever have to check the rulebook again. They both said it all made complete sense after 1 turn and it really does.

Nightmare to teach, easy to play, hard to master.

The fact there's different types of workers who perform better on certain locations makes it tricky to plan. Plus your workers become tired and you need water to refresh them (unless you force them for negative points). But water is needed elsewhere alot. And you need power cores to send workers in exosuits to the main board and power cores are quite hard to obtain etc etc etc.

It's basically one giant headache in the best way possible.

If any of ya are ever in Melbourne and feel like a crunchy Euro game instead of, you know, all the amazing scenery and stuff that's in this part of the world, gimme a poke. I am always up for 3 hours of dry strategy gaming :P

Over Easter weekend we had a local con for the first time in a couple of years, and the wife and I along with a few friends hit it up and got some excellent gaming in.

So I bought Tiny Ninjas off the ebay. Been trying to get hold of it since it launched but it doesnt sell in the UK and the prices to buy it here are like £70. Managed to get it for £15 anyway.

  • A little bit to do but he's nearly there.
  • Niiiice.

    Big session yesterday.

Bunch of games of blitzkrieg! Which is fab. Nippon expansion didn't seem as good but we'll see. Base game is awesome enough.

First time ever doing agricola too. Very bleh presentation and theme because, you know, older euro, but rock solid.

Then finished with another war of whispers. Just soooooo good.

I think I've now played it 8 times total. And last night's game was the first where we really leant into the cards and what they can do. 38-37 loss for me, but worked out so many uses for cards.

Set up is so easy. Game flow is so easy because of the round board with markers and turn order and explanation. It looks awesome. Just top tier.

    Very nice, I like a pale-skinned Orruk!

Yesterday I did a one-day tournament in prep for the team tournament in June. Lost 2, won 1, but identified the fuck up points where I could have turned both losses to wins, so feeling happy enough with my list.
  • I recognise 2 of those euros, but can't think of the names. Can't remember if it's llamas or alpacas in one.

I'm still great and you still love it.
  • I see:
    Llama land
    Barrage (?)
    Chai(?)
    Crash octopus
    Azul 4 (queens garden)
  • Thanks, T. I have, like, one green paint so my hands were a little tied! I prefer the pale look anyway.

I've never really liked orcs (Dwarves for life!) but the kruelboys are really enjoyable to paint - Probably in part because a slightly messy aesthetic doesn't detract too much. They have some really nice 'bigger' models too - The Marshcrawla in particular is a fab looking kit.

I quite like the idea of a Chaos Knight one day but... uh... yeah. A bit much for my capabilities right now, I think.

  • Decrypto is brilliant. First timers look absolutely confused when you explain it but you finish that first round and they’re desperate to go again. One of my favourites and we gifted it to a few couples over lockdown to play via FaceTime.
