Didn't MK1 come out on Sept 13 back in the day, Mortal Monday? I remember because it was my brother's bday. Feel like they should've launched this new one today.
I would have also been happy if they released today. There is probably some bullshit charts reason for it. Its actually not out until Tuesday. Tomorrow is the non-povo kids launch date. The full game leaked about a week ago so Ive been avoiding too much interneting on it, even the PS5 home screen thing has uploaded videos on it though.
Considering buying this and selling it after a story run (PS5). Any interest on here if so? Would only take me about a week to get through the story mode I expect. £10 les than whatever I pay (would look for the cheapest price ofc), delivered.
If you do go for it get a pre-order in to get the Shang Tsung code.
If they do it like the last couple of games you'll be able to sell that online in a few weeks time and get some more money back.
Probably wouldn't be bothered to sell it online, it's less hassle to shift stuff on here. Might do it and pass the code on if I get a badger buyer though, ta.
No reviews yet. I assume it will be today at some point, early access goes live at 6pm.
Strong first impressions from Polygon. https://www.polygon.com/23872510/mortal-kombat-1-impressions-story-invasions-towers
Lots of SP stuff to do even beyond the estimated 8-10 hour story (which seems pretty good from what they are saying).
The meat of the SP seems to be the Invasions mode which replaces Towers of Time from MK11 and Invasion Towers from MKX. Instead providing a sort of board game layout of various challenges spread across several maps/realms culminating in a boss likely to unlock a skin or gear variant which will update periodically.
Max Has a good breakdown of unlocks, currencies, all that stuff and more info on Invasion. Seems more streamlined than previous games and more user friendly ways to unlock stuff.
There are microtransactions for various cosmetics. It happens, its WB, it doesn't appear to be overly invasive (pun).
He also did a Scorpion play breakdown/inital impressions. Seems there is a bit more creativity than MK11, although not as wild as MKX.
Had to force myself to go to bed last night.
Properly hooked.
The facial modelling and animation is just superb (aside from the JCVD likeness). They are just so expressive during the story cut scenes, Johnny Cage's facial reactions are fuelling a good amount of the humour.
Hands down the best I've seen from in engine stuff, I've not played TLoU2 which I understand is strong.
Lots of laughs and cheers of "yeah", "cool", "awesome".
I loaded up ones stage which had been featured in previews but I think may have been toned down for those. Immediate reaction was "oh man" followed by laughter of how ott it was.
I'm hoping it reviews well it deserves it although I'm not overly fussed as I'm enjoying it regardless.
Xray, or Fatal Blow as they are now called are there but not quite as lengthy or quite as gore porn, although still crunchy.
It is Mortal Kombat still.
