The first big summer blockbuster in the recent style. It has a lot to answer for in many respects.

For me that monologue is probably my favourite in any film ever.
Actually now I think of it that whole scene is probably my favourite scene ever put on film. Absolutely perfect in my opinion.

It was all of those things but it was well done and I properly enjoyed it. Didn't even mind the running time which is my normal complaint with these things.

I couldn't watch the end scene of Enemy. I had no idea what was coming but I had a really ominous feeling and threw my knee up in front of the TV. Bloody arachnophobia. What actually happens in that last scene?

Jake is both characters, he's playing out his fantasies of being in a flexible relationship away from his wife and then in the end he realises he's just found himself in the same web he wanted to get out of.

You don't need to expect all the parts to add up succinctly because it's one of those films that isn't purely logical. Watching people desparerly try to make it all add up on reddit was an exercise in frustration.

Just enjoy the tone and imagery (In the book I think the Spiders are literally aliens replacing women, but the film doesn't take that as a literal thing.)

I still don't get it like. Is it all in his subconscious? Because the jobs thing doesn't align at all does it? Or is he really a full time teacher who once did a few films? Can't see how he's living in that apartment off the back of three parts as an extra.

I took it that the car crash wasn't literal and that it signified the end of his affair. So the end was about Jake trying to put that behind him and choosing to settle down with his wife?

Something about his wife going to the college and her reaction bothers me though, and that whole key business. I thought the start bit was just a dream? Fuck knows tbh.

As for enjoying the tone and imagery, I liked how everything was golden but fuck them spiders, and the music had me on edge entire time.

The first 15-20mins of Jeepers Creepers is highly effective. I saw it in the cinema and my wife thought she was going to have to leave because of the intensity. Then it lost its balls on the ludicrous reveal and everything that went with it.
