whats pipe frame? dont you have zuccini, blue 7 or bdasher or something? I'm sure this kart isn't good for this track..
I unlocked it at 4500 coins, I think. It looks like the normal kart, but more bare bones. I have the other karts you mentioned, just not tried them out yet.
I've been using blue 7, with some thin tyres. Not got slicks unlocked yet!
  • For every other challenge. When you "tick" over something, ensure you press forwards on the circle pad so you land quicker. Its called "fast falling" (for future reference) and saves LOTS of time. Not masses on this track but does on others with ramps etc. Also if you are on a straight slope down then hop. It'll save you a few hundredths.

Pretty chuffed with that, especially given how much I sucked at previous Mario Karts. Nice one jimmy and mk64. (Next time, jimmy, next time!)

Very. It's my most played game on my 3DS. Over 70 hours played and I'm still loving it, still learning new stuff.

  • had a little chat with redeye in pm. We've decided that although i win this time, from now on i'll not be included in the prizes. I dont feel cool winning prizes when i'm only improving by 0.001 to potentially win. So instead, as you guys are closer in your level, i'll help out with tips and strats when the new track is listed and give advice to those who want it.

If you can record your runs (phone or viddy) and youtube them then its the easiest way for me to give advice, otherwise name the specific section and i'll try to assist etc.

  • Sounds good dude. We could do SF and anything else. I'll be getting MK7 pretty soon once I've finished Mario 3D Land, so you can show me some pro tips! :)

We've been missing you at MM.

  • Only just got around to wandering into this thread. How do I get involved in these time trials? I expect I won't be placing very highly, but I need some motivation to get playing Mario Kart again!

I know, I had to get my passport for the summer on Saturday so i couldn't make it. I've also got my russian lessons which are from 4-7 so its slap bang in the middle of the saturday. The long weekend is coming up, you free Monday or Tuesday? Perhaps in the afternoon or evening?

There isn't one open at the moment as the last one only finished yesterday. You just need to post a photo of your 3DS showing your fastest Time Trial time for the selected track.

Sweet I'll get involved when the new track's announced. I'm pretty good at Photoshop too, so maybe I'll be placing higher than I hoped ;)
  • Good luck with that. I know things about cheating in mariokart which mean I could check all times posted. (I know you were joking tho)

    Very noble of you, sir.

Looking forward to the next track. This and the glitch-patch thing have got me playing this again after a 3 month hiatus.

Me too. I got seriously fed up with people voting for nothing but Wuhu Mountain Loop all the time. The online experience has been vastly improved by the patch. People are voting for everything now, it's brilliant. I think there's only one track in MK7 that I'm not a fan of. (Kalimari Desert, for anyone that's wondering.)

  • Why not? I don't like the level with the underwater section with the clams. It's so hit and miss.

I don't get pissed off if it comes up. It's just a bit... brown. Plus, it's not a very interesting track, just lots of long, easy corners. Also, the train pisses me off. A racing game where sometimes the entire pack will just sit and wait for something to get out of the way? Doesn't strike me as a good idea. I like all the tracks, Kalimari Desert just comes at the bottom of the list.

The clams are brilliant. If you drive through them when they're open, you can get a cheeky boost by hopping. Great risk/reward system.

Kalimari Desert was a bad track in the N64 version. Dunno why it has been brought back.

You're not driving it right :) KD is probably one of the most interesting courses in the game. More so in the n64 version because you could mt through the sand after the crossing but as mk7 is quicker the cornering doesn't feel too slow. Also, why would you ever be held up at the crossing? Either go over it or through the train. Yes. Through the train. Leet skillz ;)

No, you're not using the clams right. ;)

To go over the train you need to hit the short cut, which isn't always possible when the shells are flying. I'll have to have a go at dodging the carriages and going through it. Like I said, I don't hate it, it's just my least favourite from an awesome bunch.
