We've just employed a Junior to take on the smaller jobs to free up my time so I can transition from video editor to a mix of editing and directing. I've also just been asked to also head up the 'new ideas/creatives' for all new jobs we have come in which is quite a big responsibility as whether we get a new job/client hangs off those ideas.
Never been in this position before and I'm wondering how far to push on salary. I was told 6 months ago that theyll make sure I'm happy when we talk about the promotion next (later this week).
I'm on 25k now. If I was applying for a new job I don't think I'd be interested for less than 35k.
Also, I still do a small bit of freelance work that brings in about 3k a year. I'd potentially be too busy to do this with the promotion. In what way do I mention this? I can think of reasons for and against mentioning it.
Really would appreciate advice on how to go about it. I'm quite good in these situations but this exact situation is completely new to me.
