@Plornt - Well... It certainly offers some strong new ideas. But they're ideas that can be leveraged across the current generation of hardware. For example, I always thought the Wii would've have made a great web browsing tool, but it didn't. No one ever pitched it that way. So I reckon those Wii U features (social web browsing) will be overlooked when the product enters into service...

Exactly. They start off a presentation with repeating the word "unique". That does raise the expectations and I can only feel the huge let down by this. Sure it got some ideas that are not in the current consoles, but like you said, they could easilly be implemented on the 360 in a future update. -

Fuck's sake, people. It was clearly intentionally cheesy. Better than those rictus grin families wearing all white in a white room playing the original Wii.
I'm more excited now than I was before. The Wii U looks brilliant. The pad looks brilliant. Built in video chat? Built in social features? Clickable sticks? A web app that means you can interact with your friends even if they're not on their Wii U? Full compatibility with all your Wii games and peripherals? These are good things. How's that PS2 game playing on your PS3? OH WAIT.
People seem to want to find things wrong with it, rather than looking at the things that are right with it. I even saw a guy who's fairly big in the fighting game community tweet that the GamePad has too many buttons. It's the exact same number of buttons as a 360/PS3 pad, you imbecile.
The only thing that's worrying me is that there was no mention of being able to use more than one GamePad at a time, and with the Pad Pro announced too, it's looking less likely.For those with an open mind, wonders always await! - Kilton (monster enthusiast) -
