  • Well that was a bizarre but entertaining hour. The visuals are amazing, even today. The dialogue is cryptic and the puzzles make very little sense: eg. a head in a tumble dryer gave me a fire ring which I used to set off a sprinkler so that I could flush a toilet and collect an engraving froma broken pipe in the next room. Combat is...ok. The PS2 controller is too twitchy to make the precision shots. I'm using Con Herman who has two pistols and reloads quickly and then sticking to auto-aim. I reckon I'm going to get very stuck at some point later on. On the plus side, the atmosphere is unlike anything else (with the possible exception of No More Heroes - although that game had the decency to make some kind of sense).

  • Second hour of Killer7 down - I've beaten the first boss following some needless obtuse puzzles. I take it that this is a satire of games like Resident Evil. The art design and bonkers plot make it rewarding though.
  • I tried playing Bayonetta the other night. It didn't go well.

Basically I had no idea what the controls were and died instantly on some shitty start of level trash. Gave it three more goes before going insane and giving up.

I'll start the challenge again with a game of my choosing because you all suck at choosing games.

  • I'm still chipping away at Killer7. It actually works rather well in hour-long bursts. I'm about halfway through the third level and it's even starting to make sense to me.

@Frosty: have you learnt how to use witch time? When an enemy attack is just about to connect, squeeze the right trigger and the game will slow down, allowing you to practice and line-up attacks. Invaluable for getting started.
  • I'm half way through the game and have forgotten everything.

Don't even know what half the buttons do.
  • Fair enough - Bayonetta does demand that you get better at it as you progress. It's definitely worth playing through from scratch when you find the time.

Chapter 7 done... didn't really enjoy it. Although there was some plot justification for what was going on, it just felt like filler. Lots of things that annoyed me towards the end, bad checkpointing, a stupid insta-death trap, backtracking... I reminded of why I stopped playing it to be honest.

I have a sealed copy of it somewhere, I've been waiting until I finish the original though. Is it much better than the first? I mean I think the first is pretty competent really, but they've stretched it too far.

  • Ive heard its good. I played extraction on the Wii - that was good for a laugh and very brutal as well. Loved it.

Doesn't look like Frosty is doing Bayonetta now, you could do that. Alternatively, Mass Effect 2.
