  • Anyone with PSVR has to get Statik !!

It's stunning , it's a puzzle game where your hands are stuck in a box and every button on the controller does something - which you have to work out . [

  • X-Wing is basically VR porn. I need more of this.

@isanbard, I smashed your score mate.
  • Yeah it's great , hopefully Battlefront 2 has something a bit more substantial .

I also played Starblood Arena tonight but feel a bit queasy ( got to get my VR legs back ) it's multiplayer game of Descent and is good .

I really like the look of that.
  • Tried the Statik demo last night. It had me stumped for just about the right length of time before the eureka moment. Bought the full game now.

Iv'e had the PSVR for about a month now and have played through most of the free stuff and demos. Other games I've bought so far.

    Job simulator
    Keep talking and nobody explodes
    Wayward sky
    Headmaster
    Dirt rally
    Rez infinite
    Battle zone

I'm getting used to the motion in some games but prefer the ones without. Any recommendations for must have games?

Resident Evil is the obvious one, though admittedly it's not for everyone.  I think the "first hour" demo is still available, so worth a download if you haven't tried already (I appreciate you probably have already under the heading of "free stuff").

Otherwise, the VR mission on Star Wars Battlefront is amazing, and definitely worth getting your hands on if you can pick up a cheap copy of the game.  (If, like me, you grew up on Star Wars it's like all your birthdays at once.  If you didn't, it's still a pretty impressive space flight "experience".)

Finally, Thumper.  Arguably the VR doesn't add much - in that you're looking forwards the whole time - but being submerged in that game surround by noise and light is absolutely exhilarating, particularly in later levels.

I've mentioned this loads and it's on sale until sometime today for £14.99 . Werewolves Within, it's a hidden role game and is amazing and a right laugh .

  • Thanks guys. I've added Thumper and Werewolves Within to my virtual games pile. With the sale ending tonight I decided to go for it. I'll keep an eye out for a cheap Star Wars Battlefront. I'm undecided on Resident Evil but I have plenty to get on with while I wait for a price drop.

  • Yeah Thumper is great as well.

What's Job Simulator like ? Tempted but have a few games already

  • Headmaster is ace, at least until I got stuck on a level.

Job Simulator is more like a toy than a game. In the 4 jobs available you get given simple tasks to complete but the fun really comes from picking up objects and experimenting and just messing about. You need the move controllers and it's designed to be played standing up. I found I had to move the camera from the top of the TV to the wall a couple of feet behind and higher up so that I was in the middle of the play area. Lots of humour in the game but not sure how much replay value there is as you can get through each job in about 15 minutes. It's a good one for getting other people to play.

  • Yeah, I'm hoping the sequel brings a couple of lengthier VR missions (in which case I might actually be inclined to buy it at launch, despite not actually liking the "regular" Battlefront experience that much.)

I've been playing Statik, it's one of the very few games to successfully pull me away from Zelda for any time.  Really enjoying it, though it's fairly short (I've played for about 3 hours, and have, I think, just two puzzles left to go).  The weird interludes between puzzles are amusing, but ultimately a bit unnecessary (the cube assembly mini puzzle in particular).

The main game though is sublime.  Portal levels of satisfaction kick in when you solve a puzzle, and they are all impressively varied.  Just when you think you've got the game nailed, it comes up with something new.  From a technical stand point, the VR's OK, but not astonishing (there have been a few judders), and if I'm being honest I suspect you could probably manage to make essentially the same game without the VR headset.  However, that's nit-picking.  It's rare for a puzzle game to so accurately and consistently hit the sweet spot between challenge and success.  For almost every puzzle there has been a point where I considered taking off the helmet because I was "stuck", only to have a Eureka moment and suddenly feel like the smartest guy in the room.  (Though given it's just you and Dr Ingen, that's not saying much.)

    Definitely recommended.
  • If you want more Star Wars Battlefront VR get Eve Valkyrie , it's loads better but without the license
Wii U Themagickman - PSN - Themagickman   Xboxlive - Themagickman
  • I was considering that in the sale, but went for Headmaster instead.
  • Just had another go at Statik, and have finished it.  Didn't take long, but I found some evidence of some bonus stuff to do so may go back to it later...

Anyone else finished it, I'm wondering what people made of the end?
    Spoiler:
  • I'll shut up about Statik soon, I promise.  Just tried the multiplayer option and it's absolutely brilliant.  One player sits in the VR suit, the other links up via tablet/phone - problems can only be solved with a lot of communication as to what the other's able to do and see.

It's incredibly good fun, and every bit as satisfying as the single player game.  What's odd is that the game does very little to advertise the option.  There's no reference on the menu screen, just a brief comment on a loading screen.  You have to go out of the game, connect a device via the PS App (remember that?), and then restart - at which point you get a completely new front screen.  So far puzzles tried involve variants on ones we've seen before in single player, but altered more than enough to keep them challenging.
  • Last night tried the Trials on Tatooine, Rock Band and The Climb. Immense stuff. The Climb is tremendous. If that came out on PSVR I'd buy it immediately.
  • It won't thought will it ? No room scale?

Oculus and Vive build a virtual 'room' with your help via their camera system so they can measure your movements 1:1 and keep you in a safe environment whilst you move around this 'room'. PSVR with the one cam can't build this effect or environment so the games with 'bigger' input variables struggle with the tracking. It would be possible but just nowhere near as technically capable so very probably just infuriating.
  • Yep that's it Vere.

Getting Farpoint with the Aim controller on weds, looks good.

This is also coming out on PSVR next month and looks fun .

  • I do like the new interface, which displays all the goings on of friends and other users on big screens in your James Bond baddie lair.
  • Vive audio strap should be out in the UK soon, £100 no doubt but the comfort factor is a big deal for me as the vanilla straps are shite. Looking good.

    http://www.roadtovr.com/vive-deluxe-audio-strap-review-cant-go-back/
  • I've done it. Vive ordered. PC needs a graphics card as well and I've got to get some stands or something for the lighthouses (I'm renting at the moment so not going to start drilling into the walls). Should be a week or so until I've got all the bits together and working.

Not going to have the longest life span but HTC don't seem that bothered about bringing a new high end one at the moment. And I've got some stuff in unity I want to start messing around with in VR.
