Cheers. Think I've got someone to co-op the run to next boss.... There is a feckin sinister bell ringing hoor and I got invaded last night... Nearly won too!!
Just finished bloodborne.straight into my top 10 ever. I'm really not a git gud type of gamer. I'm a uncharted, GTA, Last of us type of gamer but this game has obsessed me since March. It has also driven me near to giving up gaming altogether!! However no game has given me such viceral thrills and satisfaction when you finally beat that bastard boss. Even the missus respects bloodborne... now tomorrow I'm going to buy dark souls remaster cos I think I finally get from software games. Thanks to everyone who offered tips and advice . much appreciated. Oh and I got help with some bosses too... the co-op aspect was very important too. Wow what a great game...
Ok. You’re probably not gonna play the game again but...
You need to pay attention to notes you find and the description of a certain strange disgusting item.
Spoiler:
One particular note found in the building just before Nightmare Frontier is helpful if memory serves me well. Same area you meet Patches Spider I think. Others/Google can correct me if I’m wrong. What you need is
Spoiler:
umbilical cords. Of a Great One. Or something. They come in thirds so you need three of them. You should easily have two. I ended up with four in the Run I did the True Last Boss. I particularly recommend saving/finding the prostitute in the residential area not far from Vicar Amelia bit. You meet her again later in the game in a scene that I found rather quite disturbing.
Once you have three thirds...
Spoiler:
after you beat Gherman, TLB shows up.
Even then, I think the hardest/ultimate boss is supposed to be at the end of the Chalice dungeons, the Pthumerian Queen. Haven’t done that myself and I hope to do so soon.
I'm hooked on this and have been thinking about why. Obviously, there's the brilliant risk and reward mechanism of the souls (sorry, Blood Gems), the regain system, crunchy sound, wonderful world and monster design and vague and intriguing lore. And though I'm loath to admit it, even the fact you can't pause helps with the adrenaline rush.
But I think the most fundamental thing is that it's basically a Gothic Katamari. There are no catchy tunes, cute animals or bright colours but you roll around the world, looking for enemies which are small enough to roll up/murder. Occasionally you'll bounce off something that's too big, so you'll roll elsewhere for a while, making it all the sweeter when you finally come back and pick up the annoying cat/slaughter the hideous beast.
It's the best game I've ever played. Can't see any game ever topping it. Only tried it cos it was on ps+. Laboured under the delusion that it wasn't my type of game. Hah.
