Hasn’t it got very limited support? I tried it on the morning show just to see how it worked and it was good, but it was the only thing I had access to with support.
I honestly think they’ve left it in now as a design decision.
Obviously it facilitates the Face ID, which outside the house has limited uses right now, but tbh it’s only when shopping it’s a pain. And the front selfie camera has been improved so I couldn’t see them getting rid of it.
I’ve seen some patents of them putting everything behind the glass. But Apple’s way is to generally wait a gen or two for new tech to settle down before implementing.
If you watch the tech bloggers for example Apple have been slated for not doing 5g until now, but the infrastructure still isn’t there so what’s the point. It doesn’t help the bulk of their customers and it reduces their profit.
Yeah I get that but in reality how important is it vs battery life for example. Apple have improved that in the last gen and it would just put em back I guess.
Perhaps in the Max jobbie with the naturally bigger battery and bigger screen to make it noticeable.
Do I have to sign up to imusic to put music on to my ipod? Just want to put some cds on but can't see a way of downloading unless I sign up for a free trail.
Er, yeah. It’s called Music now, mostly because Apple want you to just shut up and take their Spotify competitor which is also called Music. FFS.
Managing your iPod/iPhone is no longer done within iTunes/Music on a Mac. On more recent versions of Mac OS, it’s done in the Finder instead. You just open a Finder window and there’s your connected iPod or whatever, as though it was an external drive. Click on it and you get all the management/transfer gubbins you’re used to.
But if you’re using a Windows machine I haven’t a clue, sorry.
Presumably they’ve brought it in-house to cost them less. I’m expecting a big song and dance about how they can upgrade everything, and they’ll keep the price the same.
It’s to bring the line closer to iOS and make Dec easier. iPad and iPhone apps will run out of the box on the Mac.
The main reason though is Intel didn’t move quickly enough on reducing die size and Apple want slim laptops. Intel chips were the cause of the overheating in these form factors.
Will be interesting to see how the graphics shape up. Don’t think Nvidia will be worried but the iPad Pro can handle 4K video editing without breaking a sweat so for a lot of creative stuff (exception of probably 3D) I think they will be better machines. Oh and should have longer battery (unless Apple stupidly make them slimmer and reduce the battery size).
I’ve got the 15” from 2016 but I honestly don’t need the screen real estate. Got an ultra wide I can plug into if needed. Will obviously wait and see what the reviews say but maybe a new year purchase.
