Booking our summer holiday. Have been dithering on a destination for some time. Then wife yesterday just mentioned Singapore and Bali (again) and I was fine with that. Previously considered Zanzibar in Tanzania and a bit of the surrounding countries but costs are sky high (now).
Could turn into Singapore plus Thailand but depends if we can find a nice Thailand resort that serves halal food (unlikely).
Oooooh a lot of the resorts in Phuket do (some) halal food (on request). Karon Beach looks decent and there's a hiking trail up to the Big Buddha of Phuket for me to do! Hmmmm.
It was built in 1465 and was very quirky. It was all a bit poseidon adventure with leaning floors and strange staircases. I sent a picture to my mate and he said it was clearly haunted.
Well, we came back to the hotel on Saturday night and went into the bar to grab a drink and it was full of professional ghost hunters holding a seance. http://www.ghosthuntevents.co.uk/
They were everywhere in the hotel, using all sorts of "scientific equipment" to detect whatever they think means there are ghosts. This was fine to a point but they were doing it until 2am and I got a tad frustrated with the constant moving around outside my room.
The next morning I had a chat with the manager who told me he'd had numerous experiences as had most of the rest of the staff.
I mean if you’re ready for that, it sounds incredible fun.
We’ve just booked to go and spend 2 weeks all inclusive on the east side of Ibiza in early September. I have now choked at the cost, with nary a business class seat to be seen or anything else.
Wonderful family friendly resort we’ve been to before so absolutely worth it, little Áine will have an incredible time, and she doesn’t know how lucky she is to have already watched the sunset from Cafe Del Mar.
We've got ours booked too.
2 weeks in France at a large air BnB rental with all of the wife's family.
In laws, 2 sister in laws, their husbands, each with three kids means there's gonna be 8 adults and 9 kids in the same house for two weeks.
Thankfully we are right on the Dordogne river so I'm taking my fishing gear. Nobody else likes fishing.
I will be treating this as a fishing trip with a side order of mandatory family socialising
Not everything is The Best or Shit. Theres many levels between that, lets just enjoy stuff.
Less exotic for us this summer, having gone to Greece at Easter. A week in Norfolk. Should be nice though. And maybe a short weekend somewhere else too, we'll see...
Also, Ireland next week. Going with the missus' dude side to their family place in cork. Six adults six kids, lots of rain. Pray for me.
Luckily, there are fantastic beaches and mountains only a few hours drive away from me as I don't think I could manage anything tougher with a 6 year old in tow. I'm glad I did all the wandering around the world when I was younger and don't have to regret not having travelled, although I'd probably see places a bit differently now.
