I thought the demo was 'okay' and I always like something new to play, but my concerns around the world being hollow and some of the action being all show (see above), is something that's being reported by some, whereas others are saying it's very good. While I guess it's subjective, I can't see how it can be both when RPG's rely on world building and combat.

Edit: When I mean world building, I don't mean the story/world, that looks really good, I mean what you 'do' in the world when exploring.

Loving it. I'm not expecting much more to do than pick up the odd item and have a scrap on the way from plot point to plot point. It's what I was expecting from the demo and from the older FF games like VII to X which is their loop.

The physical copy comes with a reversible cover. Would’ve been nice if one of the covers was the classic white background with Amano artwork.

The reverse cover should have been the cover and the traditional logo cover should have been the reverse cover. The default cover is garbage.

Yes, that’s exactly what I was thinking. Is the JP version cover better?

Our reverse cover is the standard Japanese cover.

When Clive fully loses control of Ifrit, he wakes up to the sound of Torgal whining and yapping. He then views the end of the Ifrit/Phoenix fight from that position. But it's still that sepia toned view we see when looking through the Eikon's eyes, so it seems like Clive is watching through Torgal's eyes. Has he warged into the pup?

It's another GoT nod I suppose. But again, I don't know how any of this is working, what actually happens to Clive's (or any other dominant's) body while their Eikon is summoned. Are they outside of it on the ground or are they within the Eikon?

I know FFXIII had a genuinely weak plot so maybe people were inclined to over-criticise it but I feel like it’s weird that stuff it was absolutely crucified for like extreme linearity and having to use the in-game resources to read up on the lore to fully understand the story seem to be just accepted with this one. Maybe a sign of how tastes have changed in the meantime?

For me the differences are three-fold:

1. It’s more fun
2. It’s less linear and actually opens up a bit far earlier than 13
3. The story makes sense and engrossing without diving into the lore.

I don’t think I’m that far (just arrived at Kingsfall) but at least one surprise that I didn’t see coming and I have no idea why I didn’t consider it as it’s built into the gameplay…

So the gear is colour code like Destiny etc. does it go to yellow (exotic) or is purple the highest?

Only just got this started tonight but so far I like…The Steelbook GAME gave me selling for £30 on eBay I like too. Lots of like.

Purple is the highest and I wouldn’t worry too much - there’s not much to think about there. If gear has better stats, buy it. Rarely been a time when I’ve not had mats - game always seems to give you what you need before you need it.
