And it's not even close (although I love both).
  • 2 got played way more in my house. Couldn't tell you the differences, not played either for ages.

Unravel Two - played through with my daughter, one hell of a beautiful game. Not sure who it was but thanks to the Badger who recommended it as a co-op game.

I think this might've been me or Unlikely. Lovely little game, very high on my list of indelible daddy/daughter co-op memories.
  • I keep thinking of good games that should be on and then I check and they are.

Any specific shout outs for best Worms?

  • Majora's Mask isn't in the Edge 100? wtf

EDIT: Also no Cyberpunk or Death Stranding. Oh well, at least they can go on my list!

    List:

    Majora's Mask
    Cyberpunk
    Death Stranding
    Waverace 64
    Mario Paint
    Snowboard Kids

Armageddon is my first thought but I think that's the case of bacause it's the one I played most. World Tour or a more recent one possibly have more options so one of those maybe.

Edit: W.M.D is the PS4 one I've got. That's good.
  • Peggle's a good shout, as is Super Meat Boy and Mario Maker. There's a lack of point and clicks. Maybe a Monkey Island or Broken Sword.

1 just has better characters/powers and levels. 1-1 through 1-6 are absolute perfection in Peggle 1.

    Gummy

The biggest omissions are Super Meat Boy, Celeste, Returnal, a recent DOOM, Peggle 2, Hotline Miami, Trails Evo, Rocket League and Astrobot: Rescue Mission imo. It's not a universally loved genre these days but SOR4 should really be in there. I did a big list of more but deleted it because I was squeezing too many indies-wot-I-really-like in (Shovel Knight, Lonely Mountains Downhill). Agree that a Worms, a Micro Machines and a Hawks should be in contention. Also a Pro Evo probably, the goodtimes were the best.

    I'm...in 100% agreement with Moot...

There's been so many of them I get mixed up. Battlegrounds was the second most recent and very good. Probably the best imo.

I think any of Armageddon, Battlegrounds and WMD are fine though.
  • No Lemmings either.

The first two Lemmings games are too early.

I think it's either Worms Armageddon (99, PS1 for me), or Worms 2: Armageddon (2009, XBLA and PSN)

  • Best Wipeout is Pure. Best THPS is 2. Best PES is 5.
  • Is Pure the one that takes ages to accelerate? Didn't like that one.
Pulse is the best PSP Wipeout. Runs better as well.

Off the top of my head.

    Worms Armageddon
    F-Zero X / GX
    Mushihimesama / Futari
    DoDonPachi / DOJ
    Mario/Virtua Tennis 1 /2
    Bust-A-Move 2
    Peggle Deluxe
    Super Monkey Ball
    Bangai O
    Trials HD
    Mr Driller / Drill Land
    Super Meat Boy
    Daytona 2001
    Saturn Bomberman
    Tempest 2000 and later

There's a pile of top notch shmups - Cave's bullet hell came in during the mid-to-late 90s. Games that have 100s of hours for the dedicated. but I'm rationing that.

    More to follow.

Edge recently published a list of the 100 greatest games released during Edge’s lifetime. And while it is a list of great games, it’s also a pretty on-brand list that feels like it echoes a certain, fairly specific, outlook on gaming. To put it another way, it’s a good list but I feel like you could put together a completely different list of 100 games and it would be (lack of your Mario 64s etc. aside) be just as valid. So that’s what I want to do. Nominate your top games for the alternate 100 greatest games of the last 30 years. All games on the Edge top 100 are disqualified. The games have to have been released on 1 October 1993 onwards. You can use a later PAL release date to justify inclusion but not a remaster/remake/retro re-release. The games on Edge’s list are:
    Spoiler:
    Alphabetical version for easy reference:
    Spoiler:

Very solid edge list. Only criticism I can think of is some ip is overrepresented but hey, it's their list.
Notable ommisions: Batman Arkham series, Gran Turismo, Virtua Fighter to name a few.
    Steam: Ruffnekk
    Windows Live: mr of unlocking
    Fightcade2: mrofunlocking

Mario Kart 64 over DD is madness.
I don't agree with multiple entries for a single series anyhow. Two Halos?  Please.

  • Its very, very close between Asylum and City but City just does that bit more.
Zipping around the city is really fun and Asylum doesn't offer that. The city is also really dense with things to see, references and atmosphere. Its not like a full open world game. The only thing Asylum has over City for me is the Scarecrow bits.

It's not their list, though, it's a list collated from readers' and writers' votes.  And yes, overrepresentation can happen - 3 Zeldas in top 20 with another further down the list seems OTT.  But I woukd have just Zelda games in my all time top 10. ;)
