I agree with @yossarian about 8 and 9, in that if they had built on 8 with 9 then 8 would appear to be much better however. 9 had so many missteps I can't really watch it againb0r1s wrote:Solo is forgettable shite. But its not though. As a movie it didnt thrill or excite me, I didnt like most of the characters, I found it obvious (all the subverting stuff aside), preachy and it was riddled with plot holes and contrivances.hylian_elf wrote:He should watch more films full stop. I agree with the audio. I cranked up the podrace when I was watching ( I now have a decent soundbar and woofer) and man the engine sounds elevate the scene.Time_on_my_hands wrote:I'll get my main takeaway in first here - Lucas' films are some of the best sounding films ever. He knows not only how to get the best music, but also sfx and ambient sounds. Just watch the prequels - for everything wrong with them, audio wise theyre a treat. Something as simple as a load of pod racers powering up their engines would have been a lot less impactful under another director, and I really don't think any of the Disney movies were nearly as good in this respect. Last week (kept awake by the storm overnight) I started a prequel rewatch. TPM has definitely gone up in my opinion - the dialogue may be clunky but Lucas' storytelling is spot on with some great character introduction and a surprising amount of subtext. Clones, though, is an awful lot of filler. It's not helped that Palpatine and Dooku are the only interesting characters, especially as Ewan McGregor hadn't settled into the full on panto-hero, lets have fun with this, mode that he adopts for Revenge.
