The DS has tons of great stuff, are you crazy? Chiefly Hotel Dusk. But also its sequel, Animal Crossing, the Phoenix Wright games, Teenage Zombies, Zoo Keeper, The World Ends With You. Viva Pinata and GTA were better than the big console versions too. (THEY WERE).
I didn't fancy most of those. I tried Phoenix Wright and it was pretty awful.

    WHAT. Unacceptable.

Actually they are an acquired taste. And hard, sometimes the 'logic' is not that obvious.

    7) Wrestling (I liked it)
8)Urban Champion (repetitive but i like it for nostalgia reasons)
    9) Metroid
    10) Dragon Warrior

    You legend!

Love your list as a whole. No Zelda, plenty of early black box games and even a complete shitter in TMNT. It reeks of childhood memories, in other words an honest list. Seriously who liked Zelda when they was that young?

Would love to but I want to be looking at my games when I do it.

  • exactly.. I played Zelda at a mates house and thought wtf? Went back to what were probably inferior games.

Apparently Ronald McDonald land is really good.. i own it but have never got it to work.

Also.. New Zealand Story.. its fucking good, not a bad port to NES. I've got that too so can vouch for that. If you've not played it then its up there.. (should probably edit my list)

    Exactly, now list more.
But it's the exception because it doesn't have loads of badly written dialogue.

  • Only thing I'm gonna struggle on in this is putting mutliple games of a series in.

E.g. All 3 Sonics could make my MD list but is that a good list of recommendations? Surely variety is important?

Good question. Answer is I guess is up to you. I'd probably list them all if you believe they were the best games on the system. If you recommend the Sonic series and someone buys Sonic 3D Flickies Island and Spinball they may be slightly disappointed !

Agree it frees up some more space for interesting recommendations though!

If you could please post your top five thread recommendations Moot.

I made a cracking GBA one a couple of forums ago when I was briefly called CyberRazorCut, that would probably be number one.  Top ten stuff you had when you were a child was good.  Elf's GOTY one, obv.

Edit: and the one that was called something like 'Top ten 16-bitters that aren't Sonic or Mario'.

No Mario takes a huge bite out the God-tier SNES games (removing three games from the top half of my top ten), so I enjoyed making today's lists as it makes this particular console war a lot less one-sided.  Never played any SNES RPGs, so obviously can't comment on Chrono Trigger et al, other than 'critics and fans say they're good'.
  • I have my top 100 on my PC somewhere but it's not sorted by any sort of consoles, just alphabet. I'd stick that here but maybe it's not so useful for the purpose of this thread. Also I have to update the premiership thread but no time as I am going to bed now goodnight xxx
  • How about games that have aged horrifically? FIFA springs to mind yet that was glued into many a 16Bit owners console.

  • I've updated the OP with some pretty pics.

First to post a list on a specific format will go into the OP to fill it out.

I will then start compiling peoples top tens that have already been submitted (MK64 and Hylian), work out a scoring system (probably based on the games of the generation system) and update the lists to reflect. I guess I will have to wait until we get some repetition of games other wise it will look a bit skewed.

    Anyway...taking shape!

  • Here's a Megadrive list. I'm pretty sure I've forgotten some of the games I had, so the last few might not be quite as good as all that, but it'll do:

    1. Shining Force 2
    2. Devil Crash/Dragon's Fury
    3. Dynamite Headdy
    4. Streets of Rage 2
    5. Gynoug/Wings of Wor
    6. Revenge of Shinobi
    7. Story of Thor
    8. Granada
    9. EA Hockey
    10. Star Control
  • Was Star Control the one with the one on one two player mode? If so, it's still ace. I get it mixed up with Starflight.

    I love this thread, FYI.
  • NES in no particular order except for number one.

    01. Super Mario Bros 3
    02. Tetris
    03. Super Mario Bros 2 (EU/US)
    04. Super Mario Bros
    05. Duck Hunt
    06. Mega Man 2
    07. The Legend of Zelda
    08. Zelda II: The Adventure of Link
    09. Kirby's Adventure
