Mornin all. I don't think it was a dick move at all Tempy, the link was just in the wrong thread for me. This was the right one, but it seems even worse shit got posted and it started going downhill even faster than the pictures thread was. -

I'd start a new thread, but with a sensible title and raise the interesting points.
This thread has turned seems to have turned into morbid one upmanship so it can either stay here as a place for the worst of the Internet or be deleted. I don't give a fuck either way. -
As long as Tempestora didn't sensationalise it, which I'm sure he didn't, then I'm not sure why anything shouldn't be up for debate. Â I googled the drug, read up a little bit on its effects and decided for myself that I didn't want to view any pics concerning the results of said drug.Get schwifty. -

Temp, don't feel bad about it. Â I discovered the krokodil plague some time (years?) ago and it is indeed interesting, if on the extreme end of interesting. No everything is cool. It probably belonged in the 'Wierd Stuff' thread and I accept Unlikely's comments in their entirety.
Thread title was rather juvenile originally, and it started to become very maccabre quite quickly and it was never supposed to be an invitation of the obscene. Unlikely thought i'd posted something that I consider vile - filmed brutality and violent murder on cam, so I understand the nasty little shit comment and he has since retracted it up there and I'm happy for it to be replace with simply 'dumb cunt' which is probably far more apt.
I just don't want to be thought of as someone who posts gruesome stuff for kicks. I just found the Krokodil thing interesting, not entertaining, certainly grim, but the kind of thing that happens in the real world and was the severe result of a terrible issue in Russia. I didn't try and sensationalise it and I don't intend to post links to that kind of stuff again.
Possibly rather sadly I am extremely fond of this place and all of its residents (yes Maria, even you) so the idea that I might have offended a large number or represented myself as some twisted immature shit that trawls the deepnet to post filth on 4chan really affected me hence me profuse attempts to correct it.
It was misguided, I accept that and apologise again. -

I propose a "Censorship" thread to discuss this kind of thing. Not a "gufffaww hes got no head" thread nor a "OMG you sick fuck" thread but a place to discuss, sensibley the issues surrounding censorship. -

It is at the behest of the community at large. I think part of the issue may have been the thread title which may have conveyed the tone that I was posting it 'for kicks' which I wasn't.

Sorry I didnt mean a censorship of the forum type thing, more censorship in the greater world.
For example press censorship, the lack of censorship on the net, self censorship.
Stories or articles that bring up the subject, like the space shuttle article earlier in this thread. -

I wouldn't sweat it - I think you unfairly copped a bit of flak for some of the bit more twisted / gruesome things that started cropping up in the Pictures Only and Youtube threads in the last couple of days (but then got self-censored out by posters) - which kinda made it seem that there was a growing interest in that kinda thing on here, which then seemed confirmed by the appearance of this thread.

FWIW - I am also in the Unlikely school of never clicking gruesome links or watching those kind of vids (have never watched 2 girls 1 cup etc.), so I can understand the assumption that whatever is on the end of the link would be nasty.
I can also understand the desire to draw the line quickly and decisively as to what's acceptable, because while censorship is bad blah blah, we ALL self-censor to some extent in public and there needs to be some kind of community-agreed rules (even if that is just labelling thread with NSFW, stopping short of hardcore or whathaveyou). -
Is someone interested in the morbid necessarily a bad person? Just because they might want to see it doesn't mean they would ever wish harm on anyone. I am no longer shocked by graphic movies and games but I remember a time when I was. Plenty of people would think anyone who wants to perform violent acts in games is sick. -

Aye, I know. I posted part of the wiki article about the R. Budd Dwyer thing because it is a rather unique event. Aired during the daytime as well. The section about the kids who saw it making black jokes to deal with it whilst those who didn't see it didn't make them was interesting, I thought.

It is an interesting subject, the power that censorship can have is huge. The reporting of the early stages of the Iraq war was a good example of censorship for political bias. -
Tin Robot recommended the comic book "Palestine" and I still need to read it. It seems that is the only medium that is currently uncensored as it is mainly run by hippies and liberals. I'm not well read enough though to know about the whole Iraq war genesis. It started when I was young and politically ignorant. I still am to an extent now, but I try and change that when ever possible.

I am not advocating links to or the descriptive discussion of grot, at all.
I am interested in the political censorship of modern wars but I think that is a JonB specialisation.
