I imagine the Big Issue is slightly insulated from this though as a number of people will buy it due to the support the sellers receive from the sales.
The Big Issue’s circulation has actually risen the last two years running. Bucking the trend.
It’s not people buying the mag who need a big name designer, no. I can see that attracting one would help the Editor internally though – help to justify his decision on moving to Glasgow for the board of trustees who are his bosses and may have doubts.
One thing about The Big Issue (as a magazine) is that because of who they are, celebrities who ‘don’t do press’ often talk to them. They have a lot of good exclusive interviews.
I seem to see far more people clutching a single, dog-eared copy of the Big Issue as a pretence for begging rather than actually selling them. Not the Big Issue's fault at all, but there it is.
Had someone ring me today to complain about his colleague at the Harrow store. Apparently he and the colleague had had a full on fucking fight in the store when the manager was out and he thought I could sort it.
Fkin best call, wanted to string him along but they're all recorded.
I'd bet my nicest hat that it'd take sub-serviceable design to dent The Big Issue's sales. I'm with Syph. It's actually quite saddening that it's been internally hijacked to serve individuals in such a manufactured way.
Worst day today with regards to phonecalls. Had one plus the case follow up that took three and a half fucking hours. Head is rekt, but I smashed it, got good feedback. Chippy tea and beer as been paid for three days, rolling in it lads.
