Some dog without an owner with it just went for Clayton, managed to bite his tail but luckily no damage done.
The dog was not playing and was a big fucker.
Some guy nearby was trying to get my attention before hand but I didn't hear him, he showed me where the owners live and said the dog is always out on it's own. I have seen it before as well.
Knocked on the door and they thought it was a fucking game, told them straight that if the their dog had actually hurt mine I would be calling the RSPCA. I still might tbh because their attitude stank and it is obviously an ongoing problem.
There was a wedding going on 50 yards up the road with toddlers running around.
The RSPCA have been in touch, I think they are trying to assess if it is an emergency situation or not but as I can't tell them if the dog has been retrieved and the property secured I honestly can't tell them.
Really annoying as it is on my usual quick walk route with Clay, gonna have to find a new route.
I used to walk dougie in a park in Glasgow, there was this ex junkie ned that used to hang around it with a pack of dogs, mostly staffies, but one was a cross of American pitbull and some other walking set of jaws.
Another guy i saw regularly with his dogs (2 Alaskan malamutes crossed with Siberian wolves, absolutely gorgeous dogs) told me that the pitbull cross had attacked quite a few dogs in the park. It tried to attack his, but they were having none of it, apparently he knocked junkie boy out shortly afterwards. Also told me that it had attacked one of junky boys other dogs and almost killed it, only way junky boy could get it to stop was to hit it over the head with a buckfast bottle. Few months later i heard it had been seized by sspca abd destroyed, as a dangerous breed.
Not the dogs fault, it should never have been bred in the first place. Not sure if junky boy got the jail over it or not. But he never had his dogs on a lead. It sickens me that a dog can be put down because of negligence by their owners.
(All that said, i agree you 100% did the right thing. Again, your dog shouldn't be put in danger because some fuckwits can't watch their own dog.)
I'm not sure on breed, it was alsatian size, husky colouring but fluffier and shorter (although not short) snout.
My general experience with that kind of dog is that they are very, very rarely aggressive so the fact it was suggests bad owners (along with the fact they let it escape constantly), could also have been scared I guess.
Likewise I agree that it is sickening that dogs are terminated due to bad owners, ideally they should be taken away and rehomed/trained. Unfortunately, and especially with bull terriers, that bad training can sometimes be too heavily ingrained in them and termination is actually the best option for society and for the dog. Punishments for having dangerous dogs off a lead should be much more severe than they are, you may as well be walking down the street flailing a knife.
