If i get robbed, how much do they take? i've got to chapter 3 and have $200 which is way more than i've had before. will all of it get robbed? can i bank it without donating too the camp? or should i donate to the camp? especially as just moved to new place?
Back into this, planning to put a proper shift in over the next few weeks, see if I can make a dent. Can anyone tell me roughly how far through the story I am please? Last mission ended with

the gang burning a mansion after John's son was kidnapped
The last couple of days have really sorted me out with this, it's the first time I've actually been deeply into it, rather than admiring it while getting annoyed with this and that. Just attended a soirree at a mansion, chapter IV.
This clearly isn't the game for anyone in a hurry, but do the mission markers take a while to pop up for everyone else? When I clear a mission there never seems to be another yellow marker on the map until I mill about for a couple of minutes.
I've been on chapter six for a while. The last few hours were the usual mix of exhilarating sections, mundane go here/mop up bad guys missions, odd glitches, forced walking, annoying checkpoints and absolutely glorious westerning. I'm still in to minds about the whole thing, it's not my cup of tea at all on paper (cowboys notwithstanding), but by Christ it does certain things well. I think I'm gonna make it - meaning it'll be the second Rockstar game I ever finish (the other being RDRedemtion).
Not for me. If you're not going to immerse yourself in it - which is clearly the 'correct' way to play - its straight A to B game is a bit windy. It's not worse per se, just longer (much, much longer), and therefore less appealing as it chugs along through good and not-so-good missions. It's feeling like an [8] to me, one down from RDR.
Ugh, stop making me think playing this game is a good idea moot. I'm still on chapter 3 I think but last time I loaded it wanted me to ride halfway across the country to reach the next mission so I turned it off.
Maybe one day. I kinda don't care about the characters either though...
You can unlock fast travel, possibly by chapter 3 actually. You're at the stage I was when I thought I might knock it, but I'm glad I stuck with it. In a weird way I don't care about the character either, yet I'm still quite into the comings and goings/story scenes.
Edit: I still hang my head every time a death results in a restart a good five minutes back though.
I just got ambushed and Kristofferson my lovely horse was kilt. Took the coward's way out - reloading now to see if he's alive again. I've had him since you first buy a horsey.
