Oh sweet, that was obv my next question Gav. Just looked at the card and I don't recognise many fighters. Either I havnt been paying much attention lately or they're mainly young Brits?
Yeah when it comes to "fight night" cards there's a tendency to have a lot of local talent on there. It's their shot to shine.
I don't know much about the rest of the card too, but there's a few of Till's teammates/local boys and everyone will be wanting to put on a show, combined with a surely rabid crowd popping off, to make sure UFC return.
Sometimes those unknown local fights turn out to be great. I remember watching Paul 'tellys' Kelly vs Paul Taylor on a Newcatle card, i didn't know anything about either fighter but they put one hell of a scrap on.
Always gives me hope on these obscure fight cards.
Bonus points if you know why his nickname was Tellys Gav.
I think it was because when he walked around the gym it was like he was carrying two tellys under his arms like a body builder. He was also a Scouser, not that I'm saying he robs tellys
I just googled him and he's in prison now for heroin trafficking wtf.
Also mate, if you don't watch them already, check out the mma beat, mma digest and alpaca thesaurus on you tube. Chael Sonnen and Michael Bisping also do decent podcasts and short vids.
Will defo add it/them to my things to look for when I do my nightly youtube wind-down.
Yup, enjoy mmabeat (though not so much MMA digest) and Chael is always great tbh. Excited for his and Ariel Helwani's new espn show/pod. I recommend Below The Belt with Brendan Schaub (and as an extension, The Fighter And The Kid), JFCombat and MMA On Point.
Would love Dominick Cruz to do a pod. He's so incredibly well-spoken. His ep of the JRE was a classic.
I might have mentioned them before though. Heads mush.
Yeah digest is only good for a quick update if you can't be arsed to watch an event but they are bang up to date on the news generally.
I don't mind Schaub when he's not with Rogan. I like them both but when they're together they can be abit OTT.
Alpacas a change of pace and a look into the psychology and body language of fighters and prezzas and the like.
Cruz is one of those blokes I've never took a liking too, he reminds me of a high school jock who's smart too but likes to tell everyone. Knows his shit though and explains what your not seeing very well.
It's weird. I love Helwani but when Luke Thomas comes on the screen I just think fuck off you've never fought. Neither have. Hmmm.
Anyway, yeah if Till can control distance and keep him backed up so Wonderboy can't snap back and pop off some karate shit, Till is gonna take his chin off. Otherwise I think it'll be a narrow points win for Wonderboy. But really honestly would love Till to succeed so I'm rooting for him.
I hope so, that main event is great but it's carrying the rest of the card in name value. They can't afford to lose it. I didn't realise it was on tomorrow, was that to avoid a clash with the champions league or just blind luck?
