So which do you use to go back to where you did your last manual save?  Just "Retry"?  (I think the other one gave a warning about last Inn or something.)

Agree about the lack of Allure - but I'll give it some more time.  Just doing some quests based out of the capital at the mo - level 15 or so I think (though prob back down a couple now I died :-()
  • Yeah, just hit Retry.

I'm Level 17. I do really like the game so far and it offers something different to anything else I've played. It's just a shame that the world is so mediocre.

Fancy a pawn swap, Kaz? Im intrigued to see what happens if my pawn is porned...

Think I already picked yours up actually, Peach is it? Mine's not up to much as of yet: only a couple of hours old and yet to be properly kitted out in any way. Look out for her though, named her Kaz.
  • Someone mentioned teleporting? Must be new for Dark Arisen as OG required you to walk EVERYWHERE.
  • There were always crystals you could find to teleport back to town (and then back to where you teleported from).
  • Ah, there were. But we're they not limited to one? I think I got one just before I sent it back because Curtis told me it was the case.
  • They were rare, but not limited to just the one. Can't remember if you could buy them or just find them, though.

All this talk of Dark Arisen is tempting me to pick it up. Though I'm still worried about returning to my old save, during the endgame.

Those that've already completed the game get an Eternal Ferrystone when you first boot it up.
  • Balls. I went and picked up Dark Arisen today.

I will be subjecting myself to the horrors of the Dragon's Dogma endgame, before dipping into general adventuring once again. Can anyone recommend any decent, high level pawns that would help me out?
  • I'll take a look, thanks. I'm gonna need all the help I can get to finish this beast.

What are you meant to spend your money on in this? I've got 130,000 and already have the best weapons the Gran Thingy shops are selling. Done three of the four Wyrm Hunt missions - will i get more stuff to buy after seeing the duke? Can't upgrade weapons beyond 1* either as not got necessary items :-(

The vendor at The Black Cat has all the good-looking, overpriced items. ;)
  • Can you switch difficulty mid-game in this? I haven't played it since they patched in new difficulties.

    Yes.
  • Excellent, thank you. I'm looking to possibly switch down to easy in order to get through the rather poor endgame, then I can focus on just enjoying the game again - minus the artificial difficulty hike.
  • It's been about a year since I traded this in. I wonder what my pawn has been upto in that time...

I hope she finally found aught of use.
  • For some ungodly reason i watched an entire walkthrough of this game on youtube (nothing better to do i guess) and it took a very long time but i can say this is a fucking brilliant game, brilliant in many nerdy ways that maybe people like muzzy can figure (hullo AI) and just visually appreciable too

Love it, if people are reading this and have the money to buy it and are unsure, just get it, its brilliant

As noted before (sparky i think) dont expect dark souls level of maturity when it comes to yourself vs your environment combat, but do expect some very smart AI interplay, hundreds of great little touches, and i hate to seem like a dick but like dark souls, a japanese developer doing a western style rpg, its very peculiar, has a very particular feel to it which lends it to dark souls comparisons which is entirely unfair (dark souls is an infinitely better game but thats probs cause it's contender for 'perfect game' status), but its well worth experiencing, where dark souls lacks in some production values, this excels, specifically animation and how things react/adapt to their environment

Anyways im gibbering, this game is ace, get it, forget about any other game, its just not the same (But obviously if you like open rpg games in the 'western style' you should have already at least tried to tackle dark souls by now, this game seems a little easier if that helps)

Tried it. Got bored a few hours in. Doubt I'll revisit. Decent enough, but laboriously big, without seeming to offer enough reward to justify the necessary time investment. AI seemed to involve my up-level pawns killing people for me, not much more. I'm aware i may have missed things though.
  • Are you talking about the main game? I figured you'd fancy some of the stuff going on in the game, but hey, maybe i was over analysing and such, i wasnt playing, and the game is kinda 'bleak', there is some strong payoff nearer the end but yeah it does seem like bleached bare spaces at times

    It's a fantastic game!

I sunk about 70 hours into the main campaign. Then another 40-50 hours into Dark Arisen, which gets the prize for the cheapest add-on/extension ever (i traded DD for £15, paid £16 for Dark Arisen which contains the whole of DD, lol!).

The combat is great, so i dunno what you were playing. :/ The fact you can switch vocations at any time means you never get bored of just hacking & slashing (even though i find it very satisfying). And the Pawn system is a brilliant idea, given the lack of online co-op.

All in all, one of my fave games of recent times.
  • I had it on for a couple of minutes.  It was a horrible mess.

I agree totally with this, and with Lazygunn!

It was a little rough around the edges (it was like being back in the PAL N64 days with those borders) in a few areas but it was properly addictive.

I hope there will be a sequel!
  • I really enjoyed it, it was quite atmospheric and the travelling at night was proper bum squeaky.
    Live= sgt pantyfire    PSN= pantyfire
  • My only issue with DD was when it turned into Dark Souls near the end. Needless difficulty spike that doesn't let up until the very end - well, I assume so. I never actually beat the game due to said difficulty spike.

Howdy, Stranger!
